Designing in Corel X6
Saving file to PDF
Open file in ArtCam Pro 2008....PDF won't open

Solution: Download CUTE PDF
Design in Corel X6
Print to Cute PDF
Change paper size Maximum size is 36 X 96 inch

Open file in ArtCam Pro 2008...it opens [Smile] , but the design is bigger than Cute will allow [Frown]

ARGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!! My CNC is 4 X 8 foot

By the way, ArtCam pro 2008 wont open a Corel X6 exported DXF or EPS and I could not vector a BMP exported from Corel X6 in Artcam

How do I get around this?

Thanks in advance

Edited to add: I have CorelDraw X4, on an older computer with XP. So that is my only solution at this point in time to get the file cut on my CNC.

But there has to be something I'm missing.

Corel X6 publishes by default to acrobat 6.0.....Corel X3 puslishes to acrobat 4.0

Maybe you need to publish it as an older version in X6.

When you hit "publish to pdf" click on settings at the bottom of the box...and change compatablility to 4.0
Might be the problem?

agreed- change the pdf version when you save

OK, tried the suggestions above, and thanks for giving it a shot but, while I did get one screen further, a new error code box came up.
so I still can't get it to open.

I even made sure that I had ArtCam selected, rather than output to VersaCam or to the web or to prepress
or some of the others.

Let me ask a stupid question:
Can I print to Cute PDF, open the file in Artcam and then RESIZE the art work up to 48 x 96?

I can't seem to find the resize tool, or a lot of tools, because I never design in ArtCam, I always go straight to toolpaths and set up my
cut.

Thanks for helping me with this. There has to be a simple solution.

I got it! I got it! I got it! I got it! !!!!!

Bad news: I don't know what I did to make it work!

Cute PDF worked, but the largest paper size is 36 x 108 inches....which has to be the stupidest paper size limits ever heard of in this day and age of large format printers.

Anyway, Artcam evidently thinks its stupid also and, without resizing, just let me have my 48x96
table size, somehow.... I wish I knew what the heck I clicked on to get it.

Every time I accept a windows 7 update, I have to adjust my monitor colors, or something, and this time it whacked out my settings when saving files.

I hate upgrades!

Thanks again for the support and help you all are so willing to give.

Quit all updates for win 7. All those updates are usually to close some obscure once in a life time event that would never happen to the average users.

I have found Artcam to be not so friendly with programs like Illustrator, so I am assuming that Aetcam has the same problems with Corel. Artcam never seems to open an AI file from the newest version. I just save all my AI files as an eps Illustrator version 3. Artcam opens them instantly and always to size. Doesn't Corel have a way to save as an eps with older compatibility?

I have to admit I feel a bit silly,
It seems I have been opening a file in Artcam by clicking on "Open an Existing Model", which works but.........

I found I should be clicking on "Create New Model"
then I can IMPORT ( not "OPEN) the vector files, and I have a lot more file choices. [I Don t Know]

I turn 62 in June, I really need to retire.
I can't keep up with this stuff anymore

Well done!
I know the 'silly' feeling, but at least you know the answer now... [Smile]
