We have a customer who is making grills out of 50 gal. drums. He wants to put his logo on them. HOW!? We didn't know if any vinyl or paint would stick or if it did, for how long? I suggested cut-out with a router but he really wants color. Anyone have any suggestions?

Jane, I do a few of them for a local company. We paint them with a high-heat paint like what you use to paint car engines. Or if we are screen printing the logo, then we use Nazdar's thermoset inks.

I too have seen high heat spray paint at HomeDepot. Have Paintmask?

At one time One Shot could be counted on. I have done a ton of them here in BBQ land with no problems. That said, I wouldn't paint a dog house with the crap now. Use a paint mask and VHT spray paint. It's made for exhaust headers on race cars.I'd test it first as I don't know how well it will work with the mask but it will handle the temp just fine.

Doesn't the original paint on the drum just burn right off? Back in the days when we used them a burning barrels for trash it sure did.

It seems that he'd have to strip them and repaint them before you lettered them.
