I'm 200 miles from Oklahoma City and Moore, but the winds and storms covered a broad enough area that they arrived at my house at 5 central yesterday at about a 70-80 miles an hour, possibly spawning mini-tornadoes over our small town.
Sounded like the whole house was about to blow away, like the wind was just one, continuous huge puff of air and sound blowing through about a thousand trees (no freight train sound) and there was only 2 minutes from sirens to contact.
Everything went black outside and when it passed, the house was intact, but a HUGE, full-grown maple tree in the front yard had been snapped off and spun 90 degrees and thrown onto the house. Luckily it was only a glancing blow and the damage is a mere $10 worth of guttering.
the storm/tornado? was quick-moving and actually did relatively little damage, mostly a few trees and powerlines downed and some lighted sign faces knocked out and some shingles ripped off ... plus the town temporarily lost power for awhile. Pretty lightweight stuff but scary.
will post pics soon .....

It blew through here and was hardly a problem. Lots of non-stop media coverage and a 3 minute burst of wind. Lotta rain, but no damage. I swear the local news reporters had nothing else to do as they made it seem like it was a hundred year event and then nothing. Oh well. We will get many more. Love those storms, as long as they keep my roof on.
We had one in 06 that was accompanied with giant hail. Biggest chunks of hail ice I have ever seen. Called the insurance company and they paid for a new $35,000 roof! Major solution to a nagging concern. Thank God for Farmer's Insurance Company. Great people to deal with.

yes, it was a confirmed tornado on a small scale.
trees were dead and scheduled for removal ... it's half done now!!!
the yellow sky is real, not photoshopped.
craziest damned thing I ever saw.

Glad you guys are OK - I hope I never encounter a category 5....

I think this was a category .5 -- hahahaha
and this was scary as hell, almost unimaginable, so I can only wonder what a category 5 would be like.
