I've waited too long for this upgrade. Years ago there was a type manipulation tool called Typestyler. It was unmatched for manipulating type. When the Intel Mac's came out, Typstyler would not work of course, so I kept it on an older Mac, but didn't use it much since I didn't have many fonts on that machine.

I've been checking their website a couple times a year for a long time and finally the new version for the latest Mac's is here. All I can say is WOW, it was worth the wait. And the download version is only $59.99. This is a steal for what it does. Typstyler is even more useful now that digital printing is so prevalent because it has a lot of visual effects that you will love. Do yourself a favor and take a look. They also have a fully functional 30 day trial which is downloadable, and on-line tutorials.

You can export your files to Photoshop, Illustrator, PDF, EPS, JPG, and all the other standard bitmap file formats. It also imports image files and vector files where they can be manipulated with Typstylers tools. Have fun with this one.

Hi Dave, Sounds great but I have OSX 10.5.6 which will not allow loading Typestyler.

If I upgrade to Lion will it prevent me from using any of my 10.5.6 software or files?

If you can tell me , great, otherwise I'm only a half mile from an Apple store.

PS I recently found my website no longer hosted by Apple's Mobile Me. Caused me lots of grief as they ( Apple ) never even sent a Email saying Mobile Me was ending.

Thanks and enjoy Typestyler...

Tom, look at their web site again. Typestyler 10 is for Power PC Macs running 10.4.11 through 10.5.8 and Intel Macs running 10.4.11 through 10.7.

Typestyler 11 is only for Intel Macs running 10.6.6 or later. Sounds like both versions have all the same features.

Mr.Rose, maybe Dave or Bill will sell you their old version of Typestyler?

I just took a look at their site and came away disappointed. The examples they show are horrible. How many shadows, bevels, gradients, distortions and textures can they fit into one design? There is no way to tell, but they have done their best to include them all ...in every single sample. Their Sample Effects page looks like visual vomit to me.

It's too bad they don't have someone else doing their examples.

How many? I guess Russ, enough to show everything it can do. But I agree, some well designed examples would be more impressive instead of jamming almost all the effects it can do into a design.

Personally, I don't use that part of the program. I mainly use it for manipulating type. Typestyler makes Illy's warp tools look like kindergarten toys and at a very reasonable price.
