I think this has been answered before, but I cant find the info. I'm painting some picture frames, want to avoid spray paint because I just dont have the right place for that, and want a black satin finish with absolutely no brushmarks. The I-shot straight out of the can works great but it's super-glossy. What can I add that will take the glossiness down a bit? I've tried mixing some whiting into it, but it tends to produce brushmarks or unevenness in the color.

I would use Krylon satin black
some people have added baby powder, I haven,t tried that. Matthews paints has a flattening paste.

Switch to One Shot Poster. It is flat and sets up alot faster.

Dennis, I used Krylon Matte Finish #1311 for a recent project. Dries fast, did not react with the lettering enamel. I sprayed one picture while the paint was still tacky. Dries to a dull non reflective flat finish. I have yet to try it for exterior use so I cannot vouch for the effects of moisture and sunlight. I had to paint 4 portraits on canvas and the time constraint prohibited conventional oil painting. As you state, lettering enamel is glossy and the intended portrait lighting would have washed out the details. This worked perfectly.
I did post an example in the Portfolio Section. Photo taken in sunlight with no flash.

Chromatic sells a flattener for 1 Shot. You mix it 1:1 and it works every time. Jer/Artworx
