Guys,

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/08/meet-the-disneyland-resort-sign-shop-cast/

Here is a website you might want to look at....Now, remember, be nice to each other.

The link to the video on the Disney site doesnt work! Disney sucks! Especially Mickey with that squeaky voice of his. Screw Disney.

I like the hand technique for the surface guilding, never see it done like that.

I love Disney, thanks Ricardo.

That was cool
Glad they still do hand painted work there.
Thanks

I've toured the sign shops in both California and Florida. Things are changing there - just like in the real world. Most of the work is now done digitally these days. In talking to Disney sign folks I've heard lots of complaints about the management, and of pressure to do things yesterday or sooner if possible.

The manager of the Florida shop looked through my portfolio and offered me a job on the spot. It would have been cool but I know I like what I'm doing better than I might have liked it down there.

There is lots of creative work done at Disney but I know that most of the new construction and signs are outsourced. Most of the work done in the sign shop is that of maintenance and refurbishment and updating. Design is largely done by others from what I saw.

I wonder how far away Disney would outsource a sign job? It would be a nice addition to my portfolio and website. I would even consider delivering it! Ha!

I have always been a big fan of Disney and what they have achieved. The Florida parks and resorts are full of sign-related eye candy.

I will be taking my 9 year old daughter to Walt Disney World next summer for our vacation. They will be opening the rest of the Fantasyland expansion. She can't wait!

Sign-cerely, Steve

Worked for me.... It just singled out Dennis cause he wants to do unnatural things to Mikey Mouse

Great to see Glenn Duncan in there!

Well, they certainly aren't cheaping the craft. Looks like a good operation.

I feel Dennis' pain , not a big fan of the Disney empire.
That said, guess where I will be Monday. My daughter and her in-laws love the place.

My nephew was just hired and is moving to Florida to work on the web team for Disney. I hope he has a blast!

Was Dan really offered a job at Disney?...while I know he tries his best on those little projects of his...seems he always comes up just a little short...sure makes one wonder if he has what it takes to cut it at Disney...after all...it is Disney...and Dan...well Dan is Dan...but give him credit...he does try hard.

I'm not really that worked up about Disney. My first post was just to get a rise out of Ricardo.
Back in the days of Snow White Disney was 1st class, but I dont care much for their later stuff. What I really dislike is their moving into the San Francisco Presidio which was about the best place in the city until the Army moved out in the 90s and the National Park Service took over.

while living in sarasota i stumbled across the shop where all the RINGLING CIRCUS PARADE WAGONS got rebuilt and repainted. i spent the whole day there in utter amazment of the work they do on these. all paint!!!!
this is not a lot of the wagons, but will give you an idea of the time spent painting these.

I knew that, Dennis.....You are not such a bad ass as you pretend to be.......as long as you keep taking your medication, you are OK with me.
