Can a Roland Camm-1 GX-24 cut straight from it?

Ask Old Paint.

Wow cool thought it might be coming since 5 was $150 last i saw.

Since it will be sometime before I can get a super PC for 64 bit wonders if X5 will be my best upgrade X3 that I'm using seems it could be easier with X5

Not sure you're missing much, OP. My son reformatted my quad core AMD windows 7 computer up to 64 bit and we got the trial Corel X6 upgrade. It crashes before it opens.

"CorelDRAW X6 (64-Bit) has stopped working
>check online for a solution and close the program
>close the program"

I'll call Corel later today and see if they can help. Meanwhile, no big deal, I re-installed X3 and it'll be design-as-usual today.

I'll stick with pinstriping. I have to occasionally replace a brush now and then but never upgrade. My plotter runs maybe five times a year and that's for a paint mask or a pattern.

Completely uninstalled X6 and reinstalled it.

!!!!!!!!!WWOOOOWW!!!!!!!!!!

It's FAST! It's PERFECT!!! It supports my touch screen...I CAN DRAW ON MY TOUCHSCREEN WITH MY FINGERTIP!

The bad news: in a month I'll have to cough up some money to keep it.

Thanks for the update Frank...

Although I really don't need X6 for business reasons anymore....I am thinking of downloading the trial, just to check it out.

Still love and use CorelDraw X3 for other personal projects. If there are new features to learn, and it is faster on Win 7 64 bit, I'll be coughin up a few bux for it.

Won't be back in Canada until the end of April, so can't get a real version until then.

Just curious - you say it supports 'touch screen.' I know Windows 8 will support the 'touch screen' function. I'm guessing for that to happen, you have to have a different *kind* of monitor? That function isn't somehow software driven, right?

I use an Acer T230H 23" touchscreen and Windows 7. Corel X3 lets me select objects and buttons and dropdown items on the touchscreen. Corel X6 is more fully functional. Won't get to use it much today, but as soon as I explore & practice enough I'll get comfortable enough to trust it (and myself) with productive work.

The touch screen is great with browsers in the same ways as mobile screens.

I'm downloading this weekend, hopefully, and it if it performs like they say, this will be my first upgrade since corel 9.

fingers crossed, because I have high hopes for this one!!!

i got X6 loaded on the wifes VISTA single core processor machine. i like what i see, even on a single core its faster then X3 on the same computer. like you i dont have time right now to explore it, seems all heel broke loose here and iam commuted on work till the middle of april!!!!! and not small jobs.

So far, everything seems to working as promised. I'm liking what I see especially with the speed.

Just a note for those looking to upgrade. The upgrade price is available only for those with versions X4 and X5. However, for the first 90 days after the release of X6, if you have version X3 or older Corel will let you upgrade without having to pay the full purchase price.

Thanks for that info and link Glenn!

Looks like I will be buying once we get back to Canada in May.

Looks like I did find an issue. My scanner no longer works directly (twain) with X6. When I go to "Acquire Image", both the "select source" and "acquire" are greyed out.

On edit......

Ah ha!..... http://graphics-unleashed.unleash.com/2012/03/coreldraw-x6-64-bits-scanning-twain.html

It locked up the first time I tried to use the scanner. Rebooting Corel allowed it to work. I'm on a 32 bit machine, one that's worth about two bits...

Posted by Todd Gill (Member # 2569) on :

LOL David... I'm still working on Alpha Bits myself.

My new x5 is giving me grief... I'll be watching this thread to see how you guys do.

Got mine loaded & working fine. It does seem to be faster, Windows 7, 64 bit, I7 processor & 6 gigs of ram. Like Glen said, no 64 bit scanner, but will be sddressed in a service pack release.

My existing scanner (1 year old Epson) works great with X6. Everything about X6 is great so far— the only thing that's slow is me.

Frank:

There are two other users saying they ran into the same thing. Can you have a look at this thread on www.coreldraw.com and see if it was the same thing you were seeing?

The hook is the 64 bit version...the 64 bit version only supports TWAIN drivers but most newer scanners only have Windows technology (WIA or Windows Image Acquisition)

Note that if you buy the suite, you get the 32 and 64 bit versions......the one serial number will unlock both....if you wanted to, you could start in 32 bit....do the scanning and some stuff and then switch to the 64 bit version when convenient. The file format is the same, so switching back and forth won't be a problem.

Tony
