As much as I hate these perfs encroaching onto my turf, I have a client who insists I do his in perf. I called around and quotes all over the place for the costs. 1000 square feet and I provide all the design.

1. What is a best guess how much this stuff shold cost from the printer?

2. How much time does it take to install say a 7x7' piece per clean window?

Anyone here?

Preston, I use a wholesale service here in NC.

For printed 3M IJ8171 Cast Perforated Window Vinyl (with Optically Clear Laminate) he charges $6 per square foot.

As for the amount of time to install, that really depends on the installer. It depends. My minimum fee to install is one hour at $65 per hour.

2-3 bux a sq.ft for install. should cover it. Make sure it's laminated with what Glenn said, otherwise when it rains you will not be able to see out, the holes will fill with water and Dirt. $6 per ft for this stuff is a really good price, you can mark that up to at least $10.

Also, be sure to seal the edges of the Perf after installing. You'll regret it if you don't.

Glenn, what do you seal them with?

When I first started, it was suggested I seal the edges with a Seal-It pen. It didn't work out so well.

My solution was to seal the edge with a 1/4" pinstripe. So far, my oldest perf job is about 4 years old and it still looks good.

I figured $10 a sq ft for the retail. $2-3 sounds a bit light. The seal trick is exactly why I come to you all. Knowledge is knowing who to ask, I am convinced.

1100 sq ft job = $13200. Some idiot told him it would cost $1600.

2-3 bux a square ft is about the standard rate, but if you can get more.. go for it.... it does go quick, especially windows, nice and flat... $1600.00? Yup there's idiots everywhere.

Hiya Preston,
I haven't priced any lately, so I'm not sure of the going rate for print/ perf and lam combo.

The sq ft install price mentioned seem about right because the material is fairly forgiving and easy to install. The only concern I would have are the 7 ft images and registering the panels which may add a little more time to the mix.

When it comes to edge dressing, you can order 1/2" wide rolls of laminate from a few sources and on a job this big, I probably would use Gregory out of Buhler, Ks. if you don't already have someone lined up.

Havin' fun,

Checkers
