My marathon painting session is over and I had a great time! I need to get some better pictures of the pilot and cockpit, but this is what it looks like... It's about 7 feet tall, not counting the logo in it's hand.

That'll be the cause of some major traffic jams, I think!
Wow! You could/should put a mailbox in his hand!
Love it!

Doug, I have a vivid visual of you experimenting in your labratory (low lights, steam rising, liquids bubbling), ....the mad scientist at work creating this beast of a project, as you laugh outloud in your evil deep voice laugh...ha ha ha. This looks so real I would expect that it would start walking at any moment. Every detail is so well done. You have blown me away with your talent. Very nice Doug. I should have got your signature before you become famous. My loss. Thank you for sharing, your work is wonderful.

Thanks everyone! I've been very lucky to learn from the best and am just trying to put my own spin on some of my own ideas. One of these fine days I'm going to get a full scale CNC machine and then I'm gonna really get wacky. It's still hard for me to believe that projects like this are coming from my little desktop carving machine along with some magic sculpt and some dreaming...What a great way to spend my time.

You have a future in props and set design! The attention to detail is top notch. I really like the scope of this project. I know you are building things for fun and the experience, but this thing should fetch some serious cash.
Do you have anyone interested in your imaginative projects? I don't think it will be long before you will be getting calls. Very impressive and amazing detail. And it's just plain cool to look at!
Sign-cerely, Steve

"little desktop carving machine", now what exactly is your little desktop carving machine?
Very very cool work. I am sooooo impressed.
Posted by Doug Haffner (Member # 12445) on :
I may have to put it in the front yard with my logo on it...that should get the neighbors talking! Deri, my little machine is called the CarveWright. It's a great entry level machine to get the feel of working with a CNC, but honestly it's not meant for what I do with it.

Wow..Thank you everyone. I have been pulled away from this endeavor a couple of times to deal with "life" as they say, but I just continued to work on it with any free minute I had. I felt like it was going to pay off. I'm thrilled with the response and I haven't even gotten what I'd call "good" pictures of it up yet! I'm already on to the next one and feel now more than ever that I'm on the right path. I put the robot in the yard by my house, and I've had visitors every day. One of them looks to be like a potential customer!
