Hi everyone, Just wanted to stop in and say Hi. We've had a lot going on in the last year or so. For those interested, I thought I'd bring you up to speed on what we're doing. We sold our sign business back in Georgia and took 6 months off to re-evaluate things and get new direction. We moved to California to be near our daughter and son in law but that didn't work out; the economy is terrible there. So I got a job in Anchorage, Alaska and we moved up here. We're loving it, as I knew we would. As some of you know, I've always wanted to live here and I've lived here for short periods a couple of times. I'm tired of the sign business so I've rediscovered an old skillset that I had when I was young and I'm working as an RV tech. I'm making good money and the company is wonderful.

Glad you checked in. Send your new contact info. We have a friend just moved to North Pole. Not much fish in Anchorage. Glad you're still that versatile. Perhaps you'll start a new business called "Signs Not Now."

Is it warm enough to wear shorts up there, Ricky?

How'd you get past the mounties?

The RV business in Alaska is gangbusters in the summer time. One of the best ways to see the state is to rent an RV, cruise until you're tired, and then spend the night in a pull out. Don't try driving until the sun goes down. Unless posted otherwise, roadside pull outs are legal for RV camping.
Good to hear from you, Ricky. Hopefully, I'll see you up there one of these summers.

Oh boy, Ricky, you really go to the ends of the earth to get the job done!!
what a great experience; I watch the weather show where the guy goes to the extreme places to visit...what's his name? Oh well, it's very cool and in more than one way... hope you have the best times in the world there.
You'll have to keep us posted as to how you deal with the extreme changes, lightness, darkness, heat and cold with your lettering, etc.

That's great Ricky! I moved to NW WA 9 years ago and I love it! (the North Plympic Peninsula is like Alaska Lite!) I'm loving gardening and farming and exploring fine art again, still do the occasional sign or mural if asked to. Enjoy your new life! a:)

they let you back in????
really good to hear from you. I have never forgotten that story of your failed border crossing.
Find any Gold up there??
all the best for the days left to you.

I don't know if this is how Ricky did it, but a person can take his vehicle from the Lower 48 to Alaska without passing through Canada by using the Alaska Ferry. Even though the ferry ships may dock in British Columbia, passengers haven't legally left U.S. soil while on the ferry. Now, I don't know if they'd let Ricky off the boat before he got to Alaska...
A friend of ours moved up there with her daughter three years ago and she wasn't allowed to take her daughter out of the country. That's how she managed it.
