We have had unusually hot weather in southern Illinois the past few weeks. Business has dropped off, but it is also mid-summer which usually has a decline anyway. It also happens in extremely cold weather around here.
Does the weather affect your business in your area of the country? I am ready for some cooler weather around here. More than half of the US has had warmer than usual temps this summer. How are you all holding up?

we had some high temp days last week...I was still busy because I've got work booked for a few months...I don't think my high temps were like what the midwest is experiencing...that's tough...I would shrivel up in that kind of heat! This week is in the 70s...perfect!

Considering that I generally work outside, the heat really affects my business. Last week it was 100 every day and Monday thru Saturday, I woke up at 4 am and worked in mid 80s heat until eleven. Generally, it does slow down my clients a bit as they forget about going outside to look at their windows when it is scorching.
I did pick up a great new trick: I took an empty gallon jug of milk, rinsed it out and filled it with water, froze it the night before and by the time I needed a cool drink, it was perfect. Easy way to get a second use out of milk jugs and real easy to carry, compared to regular bottled water.

Here's what happens here: Hot weather breaks A/C units in stores, Apts, Homes...etc.
Next month, I will get slammed with vans from A/C - HVAC companies like you would not believe with the new pile of cash they generated. These guys are going till 1 am on service calls.
Don't we all buy upgraded stuff after a busy month/quarter? Hang in there....it's coming.
Same for Winter - Busted pipes - It happens all over again. I love extreme weather!

You are right about that Mike. I've seen unusual jobs pop up because of extreme changes in temperature. It is really hard to work in my garage that is not air conditioned when it hits 100 around here in Illinois.
I may bite the bullet and install a large AC unit in the side wall to keep the temps down so I can survive out there.
I see on the news it is hot just about everywhere in the midwest and parts of the east. I'm ready for fall and we still have August to get through! Yikes.

Yep, we've had a definite slow down with the heat. I was just thinking it was quite similar to a slow down from a snowstorm. Unfortunately, at this time there is no end in site from this nasty heat wave.

Summer has no influence on our business, but all the ice and deep snow of the past couple of winters kills it because the customers don't want to go anywhere they don't have to.
Oddly, my internet font sales go up when the states are snow bound. Probably because they can't go out and show, they shop online and buy things they normally wouldn't buy, like fonts!!!
