I went a little overboard with it, but figured it was worth giving 'fancy' a try.

Any comments?

Well.... Ahem...It's really over the top.. Sorry but it just does'nt work for me Preston, Being a Sign Artist such as you are, I'm sure you can do much better than that... It's really hard to see... Just being completely honest here... I hardly ever criticize, because everyone has an opinion. Maybe it's just me..

Too much amigo, some cool ideas, but I agree, less is more...

It doesn't need the flowers. They look like filler.

Yikes!

Dude.

Really?

I like the concept of the mega-3D view... but the font is completely wrong.... I agree with Mr P .... ditch the flowers.

All comments very interesting. Keep them coming, please.

You're not a clipart person and the flowers, font, and angular effects scream that. You could design a background similar to one of your vista or sunset scenes and superimpose your copy on that. I think your header and logo should reflect the type of work you wish to do.

I do like the start and yes hard to read a bolder font for the name would really help, the flower thing really helps take up room and makes your panel look bigger, but really think you should paint your scene for that, agrees with David.

Well....needs a little something different, in my opinion. Reminds me of the church bulletin done by the secretary. Sorry...but you asked.

OK. You people are telling me it is too girlie-man or something. I get it. Very humorous, at least.

How about this one?

Honestly? Ummmmmmmm............I know you can do better.

Preston can you take one of your landscapes or sunsets, and place that in the middle portion of the 2nd concept, and then add your name over that, the last one is a lot better all the same.

Sorry... That is not a logo. It is your name with clip art.

It doesn't work for me on any level.

Rather than linking to your homepage, would you just insert an 'IMG' tag & the address of the image, so we can see the variations here in this thread please?

I went to look and don't know which version I am seeing, and the page took ages to come through on our satellite internet.

Others coming along later would alos appreciate seeing the 'learning' process.

Since you CAN land letter, do something nice with your brushes. Show your stuff! And instead of flowers, use some decor that's related to your hand work for any motifs.

Hey Preston, how ya holdin up man. I'm here for ya.(Just kidding, I think everyone knows you have pretty thick skin.)

Geez...Honestly, had I thought this was going to be such a scathing and scalding, I would have asked my sister who teaches art and drawing at NYU. At least she would have only threatened life and limb.

Seriously, I really appreciate all of your comments. Bruce Bowers sent me some very interesting ideas that I will play with in due time. He has some very good design notions for sure. I do appreciate the criticism and yes, I have thick skin. Hell, I was a car dog too many years and had to endure the most lying, cheating people I ever knew....the customers about their trade-ins!

"No, that knock in the engine is caused from the cheap gas I bought last weekend." (rods hammering)

"Smokes? No that is just the humidity" (head gasket)

"Miles? I think it only has around twenty thousand on it..." (220,000!)

"My credix is real good, Mister. I co-signed for my sister last year." (sub prime and a rating under 400...does not think medical bills are really bills or that that old car loan that was repossesed is still on his record after two years)

I have heard them all. Any way, Thanks to all.

I wish you would have posted a pic too, because if the last one is the improved one, it's still a hot mess.
Sorry.
It's hard to read, the colors are not too pretty, the lightning bolt thing in the letters, the harsh black drop shadow, etc. It looks like you're trying too hard. It's like Superman on crack.
Try using not such a girly script, something beefier.
A little lightning is OK but it doesn't need an underline. Lose the drop shadow and try a small outline. Less Ed Hardy. More clean.
Love....Jill

More yet to come. For some reason my CorelPaint is not allowing me to save the revisions as a Jpg that can be implanted with DreamWeaver. I have run into this before, but not able to remove the block. Weird. All I get is a little box of gray, so I dropped back in one of the previous ones.
