Had a glitch in my system today and I am running GSP Omega.
I open up a file and try to out put to the plotter but the GSP Tray and the GQ MGR will not open up so I can output.
Any assistance would truly be appreciated.
Thanks Sam

Hey Sam,
The last(and only) time mine did that, they told me it had lost the dongle. Shut down completely and restart. The machine should refind the dongle on restart, and yer ready again.
Hope it werks fer you too.
Edited to say: They also said if that didn't work, to shut down, remove and reinsert the dongle, then restart. I didn't have to do that part, so I almost forgot.

It's been quite some time but I believe I had a problem once with a clients copy of Omega that had a bunch of corrupt files in the plot spooler folder and it wouldn't send anything to the plotter till I deleted all the plot spoller files except one gerber system file,..it seems like it was a folder called gsp or something like that,..it's been quite some time so don't bank on what I'm saying here but it was the plot spooling folder for omega,....
edited to add there were a bunch of files in the folder and there was only supposed to be the one as it was supposed to delete the spooler file once it was sent to the plotter.

This problem has been dogging me all day. Pun intended. If you go to All Programs/ GSP Omega/ and click on GSPplot, does the plot window open up? If it does, can you open a file from there?
Posted by Tim Barrow (Member # 576) on :
if it is in the start menu in windows it should run the exe file associated with that link and or shortcut Dawg,...As to whether or not you can open a plot file from that window ,...that would be a question for the gerber folks,...I don't have a copy of the software or manuals here to use for reference,...

Fortunately, I have Omega at home, otherwise I wouldn't trust my memory either Timi. I opened up "gsp plot" from the all programs menu. When I click on "open", I was able to open a .plt file directly from there.
Who's knows, it might work Sam. I have my doubts, but ya never know.

If you get there, click on cut/ pounce in the file drop down window...
The file should open in the GQMgr window...

I clearly have too much time on my hands tonight.

Well I do appreciate the help but it is going to be a work weekend for me.
First off Yes Duncan I can access gspplot and it will output the file , it also leaves it open as it should on the task bar along withGqmgr, but even with them open I cannot just open a file and output from the main screen or select and output, the link there has been broken.
Now to back up and explain how all this started (which should have been done from the start)
I have a fair amount of suppliers using UPS & FedEx where it comes up in your mail stating your package has been shipped and then another stating you have received it. Well,... I have been waiting for some overdue supplies and yes here it is.... I get an e-mail from UPS saing they have a package with an undeliverable address (some already know where this is going)
Being crazy around here and yes not thinking I knew I was missing some packages and was mad and just plain clicked on it to get the tracking number. Yep all He** broke loose from there. The UPS virus.
Most of it was blocked but looks like it it attached to what was open at the time and when it vaulted it , it took parts of the program that it linked to and vaulted it also.
So, Easter weekend will be right here and hopefully I will come in Monday with a fresh system and less clutterd head and Shop life will begin with a new smile.
Happy Easter to all!

And now we know the rest of the story as Paul Harvey would say.

Yep. The issue is that the command for Composer to open GSPplot is corrupted somewhere along the way.
The following has been tried so far....
1) Reinstall Omega on top of what is already there. Result: No change.
2) Uninstall Omega, reboot, reinstall. Result: No change.
3) Uninstall Omega, reboot, delete all Gerber folders, reinstall Omega. Result: No change.
I've recommended that after Omega has been uninstalled and all Gerber folders have been deleted and computer rebooted, to run a program called RegCure. I also recommend a program called Spyware Doctor by PCTools.
The next thing I only recommend for advanced computer users is to run RegEdit and manually delete any references to Gerber in the registry. The registry is something not to be taken lightly. Screw it up and then you really have a problem.
The best way to resolve the issue is to work methodically until you find the culprit.
That said, my suspicion is that a DLL file that Gerber relies on has become corrupted and that is going to be difficult to track down and resolve.

Wow! This place is great! I have many times called on the vast knowledge of Glenn.
Glenn shows the true spirit of Letterville. People helping people, sharing their knowledge and experience.
Sam, sorry about your issue, please let us know what fixed it. I'd really like to know.

Update; Glen is spot on. Take the time and do it one step at a time.
It's been a long day and yes I am smiling. No I do not have Gerber running yet but man my computer sure is clean.
Tomorrow while eating a chocolate bunny, I will start the Gerber steps to repair, and when completed I will post how I got rid of the virus and did a full system clean.
Good thing I don't have any employees because if they would have done this stupid mistake I did they would be out the door. Yes I fired myself and also slapped my head a couple of times for opening that file without thinking, it just cought me off guard on the right day at the right time.

Busy weekend - for whatever reason I can only login from work so here we go. What version of Omega?, what OS?
Here is how it works as I understand the problem.
You can open a PLT file from Composer.
You can open a PLT from GspPlot
You can output the PLT file opened in GspPlot which becomes a SPL file in the Queue folder for GQMgr and you can see it in GQMgr's list of jobs
What you CAN NOT do is open a PLT file in Composer, output any or all of the file and have it appear in GspPlot (quickplot)
For Quickplot - Composer creates a temp file in your systems temp folder, schedules GSPQL.EXE which in turns schedules GspPlot, when GspPlot is finish (you close the file) GspPlot will delete the temp file in the temp folder.
Outputting from GspPlot - when you output from GspPlot plot creates a temp file in the system temp folder, copies that temp file to the QUEUE folder and schedules GQMgr, GQMgr outputs the SPL file to the device and when complete or aborted deletes the SPL file in the QUEUE folder, GspPlot deletes the temp file in the temp folder after copying it to the QUEUE folder.
If you did a total reinstall as Glenn has stated all the proper files (Gerber, Microsoft, etc) should be in place.
If you are running XP do you have Service Pack 3 installed?
Posted by Sam Staffan (Member # 4552) on :
Well thank you very much Tony for all the advise.
I understood what you wrote and yes following Glens steps did put my system back up and running 99%.
My e-mail to you was just to talk to you about that 1% - Changing the sounds for digitising.
Seems everyone I ask and show them the steps they say "Thanks! always hated those sounds" and it works for them,........Why not on my system?????????
PS yes service pack 3 has been installed.
Edited to say; I have two systems one at work and the other home. I cannot change the sounds on either.

Sam, so your saying that you did setup the sounds as defined in the Omega help (Composer) online manual but the sounds do not change , or the sounds do not play at all.
Can you hear other sounds from other apps?
By the way you did not email me, or if you did it got stopped somewhere. Maybe you emailed Tony D.
