From time to time, we all have to put in extra hours to make a deadline. I'm one of the early school, I'd happily start work at 6 am if need be. However, don't ask me to work one minute past 6pm. I love my time at home with the family. I have a few mates however who do just the opposite. Lie around till maybe 9.30 and work on late till all hours. Whats the preference with you people?

Kevin, When I was working I was like you. I prefered to get an early start rather than a late finish.

Nowadays...Late start, avoid work, play until 10 or 11 pm!!! [Rolling On The Floor] [Rolling On The Floor] [Rolling On The Floor]

I'm showered and drinking coffee in my recliner watching the morning news by 7:15am, and in the shop at 8:00
It's only about 40 feet to the shop.
Usually in bed by 11pm.

I think if the workmen had been early with the risers at the Super Bowl, a few hundred people wouldn't be getting compensated by the NFL.

I envy early risers but I'm a night owl, physically. I actually slept thru a fire drill in basic training. The sarge saw me still snoozing after 70 other men had piled out and hit the door, but when he shook me and saw I really was asleep, he didnt even give me any penalty.

My dad used to wake me by throwing a cold wet washrag in my face. Once he dumped the whole bed over with me in it.

I feel better if I get up early, but I love staying up late. That makes getting up early a difficult thing.

It`s a seasonal thing for me.
Bright mornings in spring and summer, a backflip out of the bed and out to work.
Come the dark mornings its like clan of the cave bear, rraaarrhhh! lemme alone, I`m cosy here.

Start early, long break mid day, work late.

I haven't worked a full day in over fifteen years with the exception of the bike rally's. I get up around eight, get out of the house by 10:30 or 11:00, back home by 4:00. I hate being on the road with the "regular" people.

Early morning is the best time of the day, no matter how late I go to sleep. I always wake up early. Many people can't understand why I do not like to sleep in.

Design time 7am, I am in pajamas, coffee in hand. 9am in the shop, dressed. I have no regular hours. I might stay in the shop till midnite during the summer. Or knock off by 2pm to do yard work.

The days that I get to 'work' in the shop (I call it 'play') I am up at 530am (as usuall)coffee and reading the Word until 630am. Dressed and in the shop by 730-800am. Lunch around 12noon. Finish around dark..in the winter that's 5pm in the summer that's 9pm.
Since I am still a newbie, I am still slow at design and I tend to take my time to make sure that I do things correctly. I also have 3 grandchildern running through the shop at any one time. I also am the chief bottle washer and go to person for our construction company, our trucking division as well as Glorious Graphics and Gifts, my company. Oh and BTW, I have a 'real' job that I work 'part time' too!

It's been an unusally cold winter here in Tenn...in fact for the past several months I just went into a deep hibernation along with my business...it didn't matter when I got up...but it reached 70 here yesterday so I'm stirring around a little more now looking for something to eat and with the break in the weather maybe I can find some work that pays...if not I'm going back to bed.

I'm a nightowl - the phone's not ringing, no salesmen or Jehovahs at the door, everybody else is asleep - the best time for design work......

I go in early 2-4am range. No phones or interruptions at those hours and the music can get cranked up.

I come home for breakfast at around 6:30am, shower and take a power nap. I go back to work at 8:15.

I'm in bed at 8 except for the weekends.

I need coffee in the afternoon to stay up with the likes of Sonny and the other late night kids.

In case anybody here is a Jehovah's Witness, I wasn't knocking them - they come to my house fairly regularly and we have coffee and lively discussions - they're very nice, genuinely interested in my salvation and never overstay their welcome.....

I find I'm most creative, and also most precise for tricky or exacting brush & scroll stuff closer to midnight.

It's peaceful, quiet, calm, no expected interruptions, and the work is just better. It doesn't suit many, I've always been like that.

If I go to bed early, I like to read anyhow.
