Well, something is going a little south in these parts with Firefox.
In Firefox, blogs I visit are randomly spread out across my entire screen, with bits and pieces resembling you throwing their features on a table and hoping for the best.
In Safari, they're laid out perfect.
And here I thought everyone was designing their blogs 'badly.'
Is there a setting in Firefox to address this? Guess it's back to Safari until I figure this out. Drat.

I've never seen one browser that can do it all right, all the time. I've always kept 2-3 browsers installed, for the pages that occasionally don't work right in my preferred browser.....It just seems to be part of the game.

I prefer Safari and don't have any issues with it- everytime I open Firefox, I have to wait for several "updates" to load- then I start having flashbacks of what my computer life was before the fruit-based conversion...
I have Chrome loaded on a couple of PC machines, and it has worked OK, once you get used to the layout and the way it handles some of the pages...

LOL....I've got Safari and like it a lot. It was my main browser for quite a few years right after Apple released it. I just like Firefox a little bit better but they're both really good.
Don't kid yourself though, Safari doesn't work right for all pages. Why do you think I looked into Firefox, although it doesn't always work right either?

I think Firefox for Mac is a little messed up. I haven't had any problems with most web pages, but ever since their latest version, my AT&T email doesn't work as well. All the check boxes, some preview windows don't show up at all on Firefox for Mac, but show up fine on Firefox for Windows.

IT is not a firefox glitch.
And it is not a Safari glitch either.
As is mot problems. It is not in the software where it shows up. It is in the code that others are using that is the problem.
Firefox follows the written specifications to the letter. Chrome is essentially the same as is Mozilla and Opera.
It is IE that does not follow the specs.
It is usually the fault of the websites. Those websites are not using code that follows the specifications as they are written.

Curtis, any idea why some blogs are VERY spread out, to the entire width of my 27" to the point of it breaking good blog design etiquette rules? I know they weren't designed to be burst apart like that. When I had a smaller monitor, they fit nicely within those perimeters.
Same deal? Something wrong with the blog coding?

Donna, it's because the people coding the blogs haven't checked them in the various browsers to make sure they look the same. I can make a web page that looks perfect in one browser, and falls apart in another one. The fact is, different browsers handle pages in a slightly different way. The responsibility really falls on my shoulders to make pages that look good across the board.
IE tends to not play by the rules. But, so many people use it, it would be extremely foolish to ignore it.

Donna, odds are the site in question is an elastic or fluid site rather than a static or fixed site. They are designed to fill the monitor. The problem is that the person who created the site didn't code it properly.
web sites read your config files. Then they set the web page size to your monitor set up.
As glenn says,, if the designer is an amateur,,, the website will always be messed up.
As in sign making there are low baller amateurs who have no idea what they are doing.
Then users come along trying to use their favorite browser only to see a mess and then blame the browser when actually it is the fault of some amateur.
