Walldog and Letterhead meets are always so special. As much as I have trouble stopping and just pulling the plug for a few days it always proves to be well worth the effort and then some.
I got in late last night (actually early this morning) My head is a bit foggy, things are a blur. But like everything was when I left, the world goes on, the phone keep ringing and I need to pick up where I left off last week. Phoebe greeted me with a giant grin and an even bigger hug this morning. It was good to be home.
I've already held two meetings, had the green GO button pushed on two good sized projects, returned seemingly endless stream of emails and returned plenty of phone calls. It's back to reality.
Danville was very worthwhile, my creative batteries are once more fully charged.
Thanks to all who helped me on my mural. Thanks to Duncan for letting me play at his wall. And thank you to everyone else who I interacted with over those amazing days!.
Now its back to work in Yarrow...

Thanks so much for rescuing me from being stranded in Chicago, it was a thoroughly enjoyable ride down and great to spend some 1 on 1! I'm envious of your day, I'm still in Indianapolis airport with an overnight in Toronto ahead of me!

The more I read about the Danville experience, the more I wished I could have been there.

Ray, all you need to do to attend a walldog meet is have one in TEXAS! We need to go south for the winter so find a town that needs some murals and GIT-R-DONE! I think you'd have an even bigger turn-out than you could imagine.

Steve - that has been in my mind for several years. I live in the small town of Belton (15,000) with a rich history. We are right in the middle of the Chisholm Trail that drove cattle up from south Texas to the rail heads in Kansas.
We are Lonesome Dove territory.
As I drive around town I see mural possibilities everywhere.
There's not enough courage to approach the City Father's yet...but maybe someday.
We have a huge Fourth of July celebration which has been voted one of the ten best in the nation but July is not a good time to be painting murals.
Spring or Early Fall would be ideal...it gets down below 100 then.
I've had two heart attacks - not ready for another one just yet...but stay tuned. I've been known to be stupid before.

Ray, I wouldn't want to add any extra stress to your life, so maybe someone in that big ol' state of yours could step up and take on the challenge. That way you could enjoy yourself and just paint with the rest of us. Don't volunteer to be a project leader either! Just be with the rest of us slaves and paint, paint, paint. You'd have more fun that way. Hope dreams do come true and this will happen.

Steve, there is actually someone who has been investigating the possibilities. It's Ray Skaines who lives in League City (South of Houston). He has given some thought to having a Wall Dog meet in Galveston.
I'm certainly not speaking for him, but the last time we talked on the phone he was excited about doing something.

Earlier this year Raymond Chapman and Mark Yearwood informed me about the Pontiac Walldogs. I got pretty excited and thought about Galveston with it's rich history. The devastation from Hurricane Ike really dealt a blow to the city and bringing the Walldogs could do wonders for Galveston's historic Strand District. So far I've made a couple of attempts to present the idea to some folks but have gotten a cold reception. I purchased the Pontiac Walldogs video to help make a good presentation. If I could just get right person to visualize what the Walldogs could do for their city, I think it would take off. I would be willing to host the meet but I first need some Walldog experience.
So a few months ago I made arrangements to attend the Danville meet. I was really excited to be accepted on Dave and Susie Butler's team. I looked so forward to the fun and experience. In June my Mother received the bad news her cancer had returned but this time it was terminal. Still, I was planning to make the trip to Danville. However, just a few days before my flight my Mother fell and broke her hip. With her condition and being the only child there way I was leaving. I needed to be here for my Mom. I love her and she comes first. There will be another day and another time for a Walldog meet. But for now I am thankful to be with my Mom.
As for Galveston, I will continue the quest when time allows.
