I just got a call from Mike regarding his dad Raymond. Then new is GOOD!! Raymond underwent surgery this morning and received one stint at the back of his heart. Apparently he is still 'somewhat under the influence' of the drugs but feeling fine. Raymond might even get to go home tomorrow. Mike is making sure he takes it a little easy for a few days... then the exercise starts for real!
We will need to encourage him (at every opportunity) to stick to a healthier diet. If you get to visit him in person go for a brisk walk with him while you visit. Make sure he eats nothing but salad too from now on... none of those HUGE steaks he's so fond of. All this is doctor's orders.
We continue to hold Raymond and his family in our thoughts and prayers...
GO Raymond GO!!!

Ha, you think you can stop a Texan from eating steak? Maybe he'll cut back quite a bit though. We'll just have to keep reminding him that the stint is not a passport to steak city.

YES!!!!

Raymond,
A speedy recovery to you! It is like being grammatically correct: You don't put a period where God intended a comma. (Somebody famous said that but I don't know who).
I'm looking forward to more clauses from you.

Raymond,
If you were looking for an excuse for a vacation, I think you could have found something better than this.
Told ya Carolina BBQ is better for ya than that Texas stuff.

Great one Neil! I love Chick-fila, but I don't think Raymond can eat the fried stuff for a while. They have GRILLED chicken, but for some reason, I've never tried it. I can't get past the 12 pack of nuggets!
Good Luck Raymond with your recovery and "adjusted diet". Treat yourself once in awhile and let Lipator handle the rest.
Sign-cerely, Steve

Ever notice that south of the border has less of a heart attack rate yet their food makes your eyes tear. Not everything has to be fried.

Great news, Raymond. If you need a diet plan, just call down here and talk to Old Paint. He'll have you in such good shape you'll be running around in a speedo in no time.
And Joey.... I don't want torn eyeballs any more than I want a heart attack....

Sprouts aren't that bad Ray. Kinda like eating nothing, with an aftertaste of green beans. You'll get used to them.
There is also brussell sprouts. They aren't too bad either. Don't really know how to describe that taste.
Just think of all the lovely things you will get to eat.
Okay then, think of it this way- you will get to live if you eat them. So what else can you do? Listen to your family. Start with sprouts.
Edited to remove REALLY BAD pun.

Raymomd, Six months ago I developed congestive heart failure/arrythmia and spent ten days in the heart unit. Had to quit salt, all alcohol and now eat lots of veggies. Lost 50 pounds. The heart healthy diet really does work. Switch to hot sauce, instead of salt. I make my own with raw peppers galore. Brown rice, veggies and triple hot seems to cure all of my desire for fatty foods. Lots of fish, rarely a piece of skinless chicken, no burgers or pizza! Count every calorie and have the hospital or Cardiologist get you a home monitor system to call in your weight, B/P and heart rate every day.
Fortunately for me, I did not have any clogged arteries and average b/p and cholesterol. Both are now way down with cholesterol under 100. Hate to say it, but exercise and diet are the best ways to solve your problems.
I saw a card that had a guy on the cover sitting in a new Lexus convertible. Inside it read,"My doctor said exercise and diet...and I thought he said get a Lexus and buy it!"
Good luck and remember that horizontal aerobics are very vital to any heart recovery!
Laughter also is the best cure!

Reading this good news as I myself am munching on a salad..
Raymond! Congrats!
And, you got lucky. My dad isn't with us today. He was a true blue red meat eater and the cholesterol issues got him.
Only 1 week down on my changed lifestyle way of eating and I feel 100% better. I'm naturally prone to high cholesterol as it runs in my family. My bloodtype screams veggies and other lean forms of protein rather than red meat.
Best for all to learn what your own body requires to stay healthy. We're all different.

lol, Amy, and she's right!!!!
Good news about you Raymond, I wanted to add a little bit too;; sprouts are great but those smoothies can get anything into bananas and juice you'll never know it's in there; it worked on my kids. Now there is a green powder that has it all in there so if you don't eat as many veggies as you should it is wonderful to put in the smoothies.
You can even sneak it into a carob shake, but I guarantee I can't promise it will taste like a steak!! Please feel better, now I'm off to have some yogurt and fresh strawberries. I just don't buy the ice cream and chocolate anymore.
take care! see you on board soon, right?
