Just got a call from an irate customer this morning.
She's upset that the "Coming Soon" sign we did for her {i]"about 2 or 3 years ago"[/i] had faded so badly that it can't be read anymore.
Hmmmmmm......2 or 3 years ago?
While I have her on the phone I pulled up the job (thank you EstiMate) by searching the archives.
"Um....Ma'am. We did that sign on March 9th, 2001. The sign is almost 9 years old."
Anyhow, I gave her three pricing options to repair it. The MDO panel was still in surprisingly good shape. No rot and none of the paint was peeling.
Of course even my cheapest price was too high and she was going to shop around.

9 years ago? "Coming Soon" sign so old it has to be repaired? Hmmm... I might consider changing the wording while she's at it....

Monday is the best day of the work week. On Monday morning you have the entire week ahead of you to **** someone off (and you know it will happen). If it's 3:00 on Friday afternoon and you haven't ****ed someone off yet, you have to hustle and work at it to get it done before the week is over.

Don't know why, but it reminds me of the Dilbert where pointy haired boss was ranting that 40% of sick leave was taken on Mondays and Fridays. He roared, "We'll put a stop to that! What kind of idiot do they think I am?" To which Dilbert replied: "Not an idiot savant. They can do math."

How about waking up to that pesky rain forecast that is now turning snow? Was scheduled to an outside project under a canopy, but BRRRRRRR. Think I will wait for fair sjies and warmer temps.
Whenever I get a funky day going, I usually back off a bit and think about how to sell something new. Call or email a few clients and make a few stops where my shoeshine and smile will get back that loving feeling. Selling...ain't it ever easy?

Raymond, I know what you mean.
I just got home from the shop and found a bill from a credit card company that I paid off Dec. 31st, 2009. Two weeks ago, we received a letter of confirmation that the debt had been paid in full showing a "zero" balance and that we have closed the account.
The bill that came in today shows "zero" balance and an invoice for $54.28.
For anyone reading this, avoid Juniper Bank like the plague. These people are pure evil. I did a quick google while writing this and have found where they have done the same thing to other people.

A 9 year old "coming soon" sign? What the hell is she waiting for and why is it taking her 9 years to do so?
Perhaps you should send her a dictionary, I'm not sure if there is an exact timelimit on soon, but 9 years is definately outside that limit.

or the sign could be for a theater, bar, or similar venue and it is used to announce upcoming acts / performances???

The sign was for a new church site. They bought the land first and are still in the process of raising funds for construction. They want to be able to pay for it in full before construction began.
Looking back at the original quote, I had given them 3 pricing options. Naturally they took the cheapest.
