As some of you might know, I'm a big hockey fan! I love to watch a good game at home or live, pro or not, I coached for many years and still play twice a week even at 47. 6' tall, about 240 and still fast enough to stay in the top 3 scorers of our league for the last +\- 10 years... until last Tuesday night that is.

I'm no cry baby but being sidelined and bored with the laptop in the home kitchen, I thought I could share this for fun.

Chasing the puck to the corner, I won my race and tried to lose my opponent by spinning a quick 180... and lost an edge. my left skate stayed stuck where the ice meets the boards and the rest looked kind of like this. (this is where the teckies of this board can put in a link direct to youtube. I can't do this, so go to youtube and type "alexander mogilny breaks leg") This will give you a good idea on the way my leg got twisted backwards and popped both knee and ankle...

Here's a pic of what I look like this morning, sipping my coffee and wasting time.

 -

I'm not too worried, the swelling and the pain is already starting to go away, I'm able to move around freely (wich I couldn't do yesterday)... I'll probably try a little visit to the shop this afternoon (but don't tell Heather...), I have a little job to size and a small pannel to paint. We'll see how it goes, on thing for sure, the knee-brace will not be on any X-Mas pictures!

Hope you heal fast, and remain fast after you heal. We just don't get that many hockey injuries here. Football, however...

I was playing football last Saturday with a couple dozen other guys and it occurred to me that I'd been married longer than any of them had been alive. I could have been their father... although I think Sophie would have had a problem raising so many kids.

We'll put you on injured reserve for a month. If you don't heal or play at your usual level, then waivers for you bud.

I speak from experience,...The Board here is with you!

When I was down, the messages sure brought smiles to the face during the long days.

Heal quick!

You are now qualified to be on the Penguins roster. All 6 defensemen are out (although Gonchar is due back tonite in Ottawa) along with two forwards (Talbot due back tonite too).

And now for the injury listing done NHL style:
Rene Giroux

I've got a 25y/o brain driving a 64 y/o body! Often it don't respond!

The older I get the slower I heal!

"Bullet-proof" in my youth.

Currently suffering a fractured rib. Been down that road a few times! Nothing much they can do, so did not even see the Doctor.

Mend well my friend!

Just back from phisio and the news are positive. No major trauma or obvious torn ligaments, just sprains on both ankle and knee. Already off the knee brace and starting to walk carafully.

Skates..... 2-3 weeks, can't be sure yet, more phisio on Monday and Thursday. In the mean time, luckily enough, my boss is kinda good towards me and so is Heather....

And the slippers are also very compfy!!!

May your healing be swift and the time to your at vantage. Learn, relax, dream and re-evaluate. Good time to design any changes to plan. Good time to reflect on all you have to be thankful for.
