What is the best way to scale up a complex logo and paint it on the glass? Do you use some kind of template or pounce pattern?

Russ, if I were doing a splash on the outside of the window I would tape a paper patern to the inside of the glass.

If it is a window splash, just eyeball it....splashes were never meant to be perfect!
Bold and loose...that's what makes a good window splash.
If it is a complex logo, draw a grid and sketch it in with ordinary school chalk.

I've been looking around at businesses that could use more visibility. This is one I mocked up. I haven't approached them yet, and I haven't measured the window, but I think the 3 glass panels total about 8 feet wide.
For those of you who have experience with window splashes, what would you expect to charge for something like this?

LOOKS LIKE 8X8 TO MY EYE.......... when i was doin em, $4-5 a sq foot was good money. NOW..........$7-8 would be more in line with todays dollars. 8x8=64 s.f. X $10= $640, 1/2 0f that would be $5 a sq ft, or $320, at $7.50 s.f. $320 + $160(1/2 of $320) $480.00 i would also do a KILZ coat on the window, bewfore i added paint, then remove the KILZ i didnt cover.

Here in So California....$150 is about the max for a job like that. Lots and lots of starving window splashers here.
Of course, it is only about an hour to do one like that using latex paint.

I do all my "splashes" on removeable vinyl in my workshop now days.
A ... You start with a nice white background without drying time.
B ... Pounce, project, sketch the design at your lesure.
C.... Install only takes a few minutes especialy if its in a crowded shopping mall
D ... Customer has no problems with mess removing.

Jon, I like how you think. That method seems to have a lot of advantages. Which brand of vinyl do you use?

Bushie I put a coat of solver aquatec over it once finished. This allows you to put it on wet like a digital print will not smudge the water based paints underneath when squeeging.
Russ used to paint on the windows like bushie now do them on removeable vinyl easiest way to do them.
