I'm trying to price per my customer's specs some street signs that need to have a backing board of some type (weather resistant and paintable) that would have a routed (recessed)face, that we would mount aluminum faces into. It's a "look" they are going for. Extira has always been too heavy to work with in my opinion. There is a new product that is being hawked in the building trade that goes by the name Nyloboard. It's a composite board made of recycled carpet (made in Georgia of course)and is touted as a superior sheet product for the building trade. It can be cut to shape, routed, sanded and painted. Google it! They're making garage doors and cabinet doors form the stuff. It has all of the qualities to make a great signboard. Has anyone used this product? It seems a bit pricey. Does anyone have a suggestion other than PVC which has expansion issues when mated with other materials?
