I currently have a used laptop running Vista. And for the life of me, I cannot locate Outlook Express.

Can someone please offer me an ABC way of finding this thing so I can load the shortcut to my desktop? As well, how to get it added to my Internet browser like the XP variation has.

Deep breath... this is so not my cup of tea. Thanks!

Donna, it is now called Windows Mail, if that helps.

Thanks for the info... but WHERE? I can't locate anything called Windows Mail either.

I love Windows 98. I don't care what anyone else thinks of me for saying that. [Smile]

Windows 98 was a very good product.

Donna..I had to laugh at "I love Win 98"

I did too, and it WAS a great OS.

And I loved Win 2000 and then XP and am now getting used to Vista. (Still using XP while figuring out Vista)

LOL..If I remember correctly..YOU were the lady that convinced me to upgrade many years ago???

( I sincerely thank you for that advice Donna)

I thought from what I read online...that Windows 7 wouldn't be out til October or November - earliest? That's seven months or so out...I guess it depends on what your definition of soon is...

So how do you like it Curtis? I read good things about it.

That's just crazy,Vista crashed and died and now they want to go and probably make it worst, I went from vista back to xp. Now I guess nothing will run on xp soon.

Don't matter what is published. The rumor mills have been saying all kinds of dates and none of them really know. Rumors are just that,,, rumors.

I have observe release candidate 1 already in the wild. There are people using release candidate 1 as we post. So who is more correct? Some self appointed IT expert writer who thinks he knows or the people using it today.

Other than some of the dumbest back stepping techniques such as multiple clicks to do tasks that used to take one. Stupid over bloated search functions al la the seach doggie that is so hated that most geeks hack the registry to rid of it..
Virtual mydocuments folder..

In fact there will be a raft of hacks and workarounds to fix those "features" that most geeks find intrusive, stupid, bloated, inefficient, or otherwise poorly thought out. And the lack of legacy hardware support..

Other than that it looks good.

Thanks Glenn! Found it and I even got it working!

I am SUCH a guru now. And of course that's why I simply sent my other laptop over to my good buddy Real Guru Phoenix... just gotta call it a day for some things.

LOL....oooo--kaaay!

So... the lack of legacy hardware support....if you have hardware that is new enough that it is all supported now by Windows Vista, would you say that 'generally' THAT particular hardware would be supported?

I'll save this thread just for kicks... I'm curious to see if some 'self appointed IT writer' would be accurate about Windows 7 release date being more towards Christmas 09.... I have never seen MS release a Windows package yet on-time. Delays seem to be the usual course of action, which is good on them....because then we know they have put the extra time into R-E-A-L-L-Y working the 'bugs' out of their software pre-release....hahahahahahahahaha.

Donna, you could always get a cheap copy of Microsoft Office and install it. Then you would have Microsoft Outlook, which would be more like the Outlook Express you are used to.....

Personally, I and many others don't give a rip when its released. Some attempt to predict a date just to fulfill some unknown agenda.

Many already have legal access to it in many other versions including the win7 7release candidates.

The only reason I mention any release dates is because some astute shoppers would like to avoid spending 200+ bux on something the vista dead horse with a replacement (win 7) to be out within very soon.

Considering that Windows 7 is not a complete rebuild and more of a glorified Vista, I'm not holding my breath about it being any better.

My next machine is a new Mac. But then they will probably come out with OSXI and be right back to 8 years ago when OSX came out and nothing worked with it.

What these companies need to do is release production OS version that are meant for getting work done and not add all the BS third software that you have to install (how many slide show programs do we need?).

am just waiting for a new 'pooter that I bought "on-line" as an "off-line" machine. It of course comes with vista. I'm "SURE" hoping that the learning curve ain't too huge as this is one of my first computers. Buying on line was a treat ;=/...dealing with the "up sale" person that barely spoke english.

LOL Doug..Learn another language!!!

Try Spanish, Italian, Hindi, Chinese, Japanise, Finnish, Swedish....????

Shirl and I have 2 puters here..mine is an XP machine, her's is a Vista machine...I am getting used to the Vista OS..pain in the butt..BUT getting used to is working.

I am no computer expert, but by being "flexible and adaptable" I have been able help a few folks with computer problems here.

(And NO..I don't habla Espaniol muy bueno!!!!)
