Any ideas on what font this may be? It's seems to be used quite a bit locally, so I'm hoping it's a common font. - I know it's it's pixelated but it was scanned from envelope, sorry.

It's a common font, I recognize it and have used it, but I can't remember the name!!!

It's call Pain In the Ass font.

Sorry Larry...I looked thru all of my fonts and don't have it.

I also tried What the Font...

No luck.

Thanks for the replies. But like Nevman says it's a Pain In the Ass font. I have seen it used a few different times locally that's why I thought it was more common. Glad to hear that you feel tha it's a more common font too, Mike. I've been looking through mine and on the web but haven't found it yet. I'm going to keep plugging on though. Thanks again.

I have actually used this font, but that was 15 years ago. I will look at an old file and see if it will give me the font's name.

found the file, but no font name attached to it

dang!!!

I always hated this font 'cause everyone local was addicted to it....

Reminds me of an old Letraset font called Le Griff.

But it's not.

Larry,
If this is so elusive that nobody here can locate it, chances are your client can't either. If you are just trying to match those 3 characters, many of us here (myself included) could do it for you in a flash with calligraphy pen/paper, or by digitizing and cleaning up from your scan. If you need more letters, pick a similar one and tell the customer that is the closest available.

Good Luck

Barb may be right.

I've used this font before, I know it exists, but Jilly's selection and any of the extended Zapf Chancery families should do the job.

Still, I wish I could remember where I got this font. It was some trashy freeware/ripoff that I lost in a computer crash many moons ago.

And good riddance, I say!!!

Thanks for the replies everybody. I figured if nobody knew it on here it was a "custom" font made for this particular sign. The one Jill found is very close, though. I'll have to try and clean it up and use it. Thanks again.

Why would you want to use that on purpose. Go to the Fontry or some of the other sign font guys and buy something worth using. Just my 2 cents.

Actually I really like Le Griffe. It's just used stupidly here - 3 capital letters. Most calligraphic fonts should not use the caps all by themselves. The P is similar to Le Griffe but no I or A exists in the examples that come even close to the ones in Larry's sample. Larry sent me his file and I digitized it in Illustrator, cleaning up the serifs a bit using the calligraphic brush tool. So he is good to go now.

Thanks everybody. And Barb thank you, it worked perfect. I would rather have redesigned their "Logo", but the owner was adamant about keeping it. But anyway like I said it worked perfectly for what I needed. Thanks again everybody
