I have that same problem. Supposedly this is fixed with X4.

I right clicked the link ... save target as... it told me acrobat 7... opened up as a pdf in x3... if it was half a cd in upper left corner it opened fine

I did that too...
It is suppose to be like 6 different CD labels.

I opened it again in illustrator cs3 and there were 8 cd labels ... but it said there was a broken link to a missing psd file

Thanks, Mark
I am going to have to break down and get Photoshop and Illy.

most of the time when an "ai" file won't open with corel it is because it was saved with compression.
ask the client to save without compression

should be no problem we import Ai files all the time

here is a link to the visual of your file and what file is missing on the client's part missing file Posted by Blake Koehn (Member # 5984) on :
Thanks Elaine.
I have been wanting to purchase Photoshop for a long time. Will it open AI files or will I have to get Illustrator also. I really don't think I would use illustrator very much because I am so familiar with X3 for vector work.

Blake,
Corel X3 will open an AI file if it was saved as a CS version or older.
Corel X4 will open an AI file if it was saved as a CS2 version or older.
Also, I'm not sure but I think the your AI file was compressed inside of Illustrator. That will cause problems, too.
Anyhow, I've imported everything except for the missing linked file into Corel X4 and saved it as a X3 file.
