I have some dry erase boards that don't seem to erase easily. I am motivated to create some custom dry erase panels that have current projects and a weekly production schedule.

Can any of you recommend any name brands or other material that works really well?
How about stock aluminum or steel from sign supplier? What about abitibi? (shower board)

thanks in advance

Abitibi works very well, just cut it to size.

Some suppliers also carry dry erase vinyl to make your own panels.

Stop using 1-Shot on them! .... find a proper dry erase pen! [Razz]

Those waterbased pens they sell for your kids that claim are not a PITA to clean off the bedroom walls are great!

Can't help you from here with brand names, but plain stock panel, with a good enamel coat, works for me if used the right way!

I've always found the shower board tends to stain, especially with blue or red.

Dry erase vinyl or laminate, however, works great.

I have a couple cheap ones and found that they don't erase easily if the writing has been on it a while. I give it a spritz of rapid tac, wipe it off & it's like brand new.

Yes, sometimes I feel like the father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but with rapid tac instead of windex. In my defense, at least 1 rapid tac bottle is always easily found in the shop and the windex is buried in a cabinet. [Wink]

We don't get Rapid Tac down here Chris but something similar that works just as good.

"Windex" I do have in my cupboard too.

Problem with that stuff it' tends to "fish-eye" 1-shot!

Jeff ... tried acrylic sheet once, but found it stained ... brand or type of acrylic? Yer gotta test these things.

If you really want "Class" .... backspray a sheet of GLASS black and use white or fluro pens!

You really need to view these videos Jon, and btw, that windex is gonna bite you in ways other then "fish eyes"

I used to use Abitibi/shower board, now I buy the real Dry Erase from Pioneer Supply. It's thicker and nicer. If only they would stop dinging my corners!

I always wax with Pledge after applying vynull.
Seems to make it last longer.
Tell the customer to clean with Windex (they usually don't have Rapid products) and periodically re-wax.
Love....Jill
PS
Not knocking Rapid products, I use them daily.

Another tip would be to stop using glass cleaner to clean the boards and use the right products designed for the purpose - although, I have used Rapid Tac too [Smile]
I've never had a problem with the expo brand of markers or cleaner...

We do dry erase boards fairy regularly, no real secret to them. Laminating film to use is drytac dry erase. dry erase film

Laminate printed vinyl to thin galvanised, overlaminate with dry erase film then mount that to sintra or coroplast and you have a nice dry erase magnetic board.

Thats OK with me to clean the erase boards with whatever works best,I just want everybody to see the "application and removal videos" so we can put an end to the "windex for application fluid myth"

Please, watch a few!!

Hi Jeff:
here's some information on the dry-erase vinyl that we stock and sell:
http://www.wjtdistributing.com/osC/index.php?cPath=34_120

we have had only great reviews from customers who have used this vinyl overlaminate to create their own custom signs.

just a reminder that our prices are listed in Canadian funds and we ship only UPS.

thanks!
Janice
