Have a two week old file in Adobe Illustrator(windows). Tried to open today and file is damaged. Backup file is the same.

Tried all solutions suggested by Adobe. Except opening with a newer version of Illy. I currently have CS2.

Would somebody be willing to try opening with a newer version? save as CS2.
It's large file(8mb)with embeded bitmap. The bitmap is not needed and can be deleted from the file.

Mike, e-mail it to me and I'll see what I can do. I'm up to CS4.

Hi Mike,

I've gone through everything I have and no luck. I tried Illustrator CS3, CS4 and Corel X4.

Thank You,
First time I have saved a file and came back and it was bad. Been using Illy for over 10 years.

I think it was a day when I got pulled off the computer. It sat all day in Illy and got saved at the end of day. Reading some Adobe info that can create some problems.

Mike... I'm sure you probably tried this, but did you go to your file in explorer and rename it to a different name... and then try and open it? Occasionally this works.....

Also... if you know it was good on Day 1, but is now corrupt on Day3.... you may consider the possibility of doing a system restore back to when you know the file was good.

Assuming you're using Windows....

Also - before doing that... make sure you back up all your new files created since the restore date to ensure you don't lose your new files.

Todd,

system restore does just that...restore the stystem.
It does not affect personal files, e-mail, documents, or photos.

File was a new creation, saved and then two weeks later tried to open. It was the first time opened.

File name didn't work. New folder, file type changes, Nothin...

Only option is open into Acrobat. Downloading it now and we will see if that works.
