I'm doing a sign for one of our local banks. It will be a welded together steel frame painted black with a few wrought iron dillymadoodles. I've done a couple for them, but this one is needing to be lighted.

Any suggestions on a good source for those cool vintage looking lights that can be mounted on the top of the sign and have the booms that curve back around and shine on the face?

Tried Googling for a source, but get 2,577,239 results and I don't have time to go through even half of them.

TIA

Here's one I bookmarked. I've never done business with them, so I don't have any more info.

Thanks, Sonny... I see some in there that are similar to what I'm looking for, but they all seem to hang straight down. I wonder if I mount them at an angle to shine back at the sign... will have to study their products a little more.

Also curious if it would take 1,000 CanadianDeutchMarkFrancs to get them down south here....

Jon,
I googled for commercial exterior wall lights and came up with this site. They have two so far. I have seen others that I like better but maybe this will do.

Here's another one but still can't find one in particular.

Jon ... just a suggestion:

If you are having the frame and thingamedoodles welded up ... why not get them to add the lamp holder arms to you specification?. Easy enought to bend some small diameter tubing.

Poke around in the local lighting shop for a couple "rustic" exterior fittings to go on the end. Spray whole lot black.

These are adjustable and have the vintage flair I think you're looking for. Hope this link helps.

They have some nice styles, their brochure has about 4 pages worth.

Hey,Jon, the one problem I've always found with thoses fancy-schmantsy lighting fixtures is that they are always way, way overpriced. And, many are very cheaply made.

You can buy the "shaded" fixures at Lowe's or Home Depot. Get a conduit bender; lay out a pattern for the shape of the arm you need, on a table or the floor. Then get some 1/2 inch pipe (not conduit) and bend however many of them to the same shape. Most of the fittings in electrical boxes will work, and with a little playing around, you can come up with a neat light, that will be strong, and work quite well without costing an arm and a leg.

Thanks very much, all of you.

Lori and Sam, that's exactly what I'm looking for, but will have to do a little scale to see if it's that models too big. I should have mentioned, the sign is a 4'x6'.

I'm liking Jon & Dales idea... I'm the one welding up the frame, might as well make the lights too.

Thanks again....
