The name plaques are now almost done as are all the other preparations for the Router Magic Workshop. And the excitment is building fast here in our shop. There are a few things that will remain a big surpirse to challenge our guests the entire time they are here. Its going to be FUN!
Markus' name tag is now done... 'cept his name on the gunnel. We'll leave that as another hand lettering lesson for David by Raymond or perhaps Duncan or Rene as they letter pretty fine too. I gotta keep those fellows busy so they don't get into constant trouble.
I also couldn't resist showing a new piece... not quite finished yet but coming along nicely. Brent Tatarin is into marine life... specifically sharks... so how about a custom designed submarine to explore the murky depths...
We've also decided to incorporate something brand new and exciting for this workshop... something that involves everyone who attends... I promised Rebecca I wouldn't say anything just yet... or even give a hint... (she thinks I can't keep a secret...)
no sweat!!!!
Stay tuned for updates from Yarrow...

In my canoeing days, I always hated it when this happened.

I have said many times that you don't have to be crazy to be in this business, but it sure does helps. It pays to be crazy, it'll keep you from going insane!

Well...duh!

I can't wait...I can't wait...I can't wait !!!
...... what exactly does "keeping those guys out of trouble" supposed to mean anyway??? I'll send my dog after you if YOU don't behave !
Posted by Dan Sawatzky (Member # 88) on :
Rene... I suspect 'your' dog is gonna be on my tail the whole weekend anyway.
And who said I have to behave??? Its my shop so I'll be makin' the rules.
Counting the days 'till the workshop in Yarrow...

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for Dan to just throw up his hands, junk his notes and let this group take over the workshop.
An image of trying to herd chickens comes to mind.
But there still will be just a lot of learning going on...and that's why we are all coming.
I believe that we have one more person that is making the rental car ride up from Seattle with me, Doug, and David. This fourth person is really going to improve the visual quality of the group also.
I think we may have to rent a van rather than a car. Anybody else want to come along?
Posted by Kellie Miller (Member # 2788) on :
haha, thanks Raymond!
I'm really looking forward to going up to the workshop! It should be a great ride up with you guys. I'm also lucky enough to ride back to Seattle with Cody and Jenesa Reich of Columbia Signs. Thanks everyone!
This will be a lot of fun and very informative. I'm really excited to spend so many days with such talented and creative people.
See you soon! :-) Kellie

yah ray, swing by and pick me up on the way

And Kellie's giving a free boxcar load of 40# PB to all attendees... it's right there in the fine print of the rental car contract... the extremely fine print... the print that requires an electron microscope to read.
Posted by Raymond Chapman (Member # 361) on :
Now, isn't that generous of Kellie! Thanks.
Kellie, I just got off the phone with Bob Gilliland and he mentioned something about being sure that we had plenty of beer bottles for you along the way. Or maybe I misunderstood him.
Harding...since we are such generous souls to help out a lady in distress, don't you think that Coastal Enterprises should pay for the rental car and the gas?
Posted by Duncan Wilkie (Member # 132) on :
Kellie, I'm thinking it might be less expensive if you just charter a private jet. If David brings all is "friends" it's going to be pretty crowded anyway.
Posted by David Harding (Member # 108) on :
I've spent a few hours in MD-80 and B-757 simulators at American Airlines. I'm sure I could fly that jet for Kellie.
Hmmm... How come every item on her checklist starts with the word Parachute?
Posted by Kellie Miller (Member # 2788) on :
hahahaha... what happened to this post?! wow.. leave for one minute.. lol.
First I was hitchhiking and now I'm chartering a private jet that will be full of PBLT-40 and Dave's 'friends'. (hmmm) ;-)
Raymond, I have NO idea who Bob Gilliland is and what he's talking about.. beer, Bob, ... what, who...? lol

I can see I'm going to have my hands full during the workshop... sorta like having a room full of high energy three year olds who've just had a bunch of sugar and with a short attention span...
No worries... I have a plan in Yarrow...

Don’t force me to post pictures!
Seriously, have fun guys and gals. Learn much, enjoy the company, and remember and reflect on the passion and fire long after the event euphoria is over.

What a crew.....What a cast! I'm soooo jealous. I hope someone will be filming all the mischief. Can't wait to see this video. Have a blast...!!
Posted by Raymond Chapman (Member # 361) on :
I'll have my video camera and lots of tapes. Hopefully, Dan will allow me to catch a lot of the workshop and other happenings on film.
Possibly we can edit the weekend together to make it sensible and then have it available for anyone that wants to spend a few bucks.
I'll donate the proceeds to Dan's recovery program.
Posted by David Harding (Member # 108) on :
Dan's recovery program?
That would be another 700 billion dollar bailout.
Posted by Duncan Wilkie (Member # 132) on :
Has it occurred to anyone that Dan has this event scheduled for the Thanksgiving weekend? With all these turkeys running around, we'd better keep an eye out for poachers.... and kids chucking Cranberry sauce.
Posted by Raymond Chapman (Member # 361) on :
Well, it's not Thanksgiving down here...but it will be the week before my 64th birthday. Gifts would be appropriate. And I usually prefer the expensive kind.
That load of 40# Precision Board would do nicely for starters.
