I never had a problem opening eps files before but I just re installed corel 11 on a new computer and for some reason I can't open eps files like the ones from brands of the world.
I'm thinking theres some setting I need to fix, but I have no clue. I suppose I could read up on it for hours, but the pros are here!!!

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

There is an import setting for .eps files called something like PS, EPS, PRN-POSTSCRIPT that will often allow .eps files to import when no other setting will work.

how do I find it?

If you havent already, first thing to try when importing, under Files of type:
make sure to scroll down to
PS, PRN, EPS Postscript Interpreted
try this instead of All fileformats or EPS

NIIIIIICE!!!

It worked, thanks David and Kymi!!

Kymi, I'm glad you replied because the wording on that filter had changed in X4. I knew it said something about "interpreted" but couldn't remember exactly what. Also, you clarified things with the statement about not using All fileformats or EPS.

Glad to hear it worked Dawud, thanks David.

One more thing, though. Should I be able to import ai. files into corel? I've been trying to do that as well but haven't been able to so far. I've opened psd files on corel before, it seems like it works sometimes but not others.

Dawud, yes you should be able to import AI files as long as two criteria are met.

First, that the AI files were either created on a PC computer or, if created on a Mac, that they are saved for use on a PC.

Second, that the AI files were created in an early enough version of Illustrator that Draw 11 will recognise them, or that they were saved back to an early enough version format.

The .ai files may be newer than your ver. 11 filter can interpret. If the files are from an older version of Illy, it should work fine...

Oops... too slow. (and also that other thingy wut Dave said..)

yeah, because I know I've imported AI files in the past, but now I'm having troubles. Guess that could be it.

thanks again...

If importing an .ai file created in Flexi into Corel, be sure "Preview" is checked off. Leaving "Preview" on will instantly kill Corel.
