You are doing a great job putting this meet together Lee! This is gonna be a fun meet.
Thanks also to Letterville for their help in promoting this meet.

I wonder how many fights will break out?
Posted by Mike Faig (Member # 6104) on :
I think we're ripe for some dueling. Striping daggers at one pace. Come on down and join in the fun, Bruce.
Posted by Mark Fair Signs (Member # 289) on :
There will be no fights Bruce.
And since you will not be attending there will be no one whining about hating there customers and talking negative about the trade.
The weather in Alabama in November is nice. the crispness of Fall in the air and the colors of the season will be beautiful!
Mike Meyer will be there willing to show how he does beautiful brush lettering.
Good Food and Great Friends. What more could one ask for?
Posted by Lee McKee (Member # 3533) on :
You guys are funny.... The only fights at this meet Bruce, will be over the Johnny Ray's Ribs on Friday night.
This Meet is going great! If you miss it you're going to regret it.
Posted by bruce ward (Member # 1289) on :
mike faig I appreciate the invitation, but Im good
Posted by Mark Fair Signs (Member # 289) on :
I am so bummed out that the great Bruce Ward is not coming! Bruce was gonna give a seminar on how to hate everything about the sign trade and how to treat customers and other people in the trade like second class citizens.
Have you ever been to a meet bruce?
Posted by Kelly Thorson (Member # 2958) on :
"Mike Meyer and I started this forum in June after frustration of the bickering that goes on on some of the "Jerry Springer" Sign forums on the web. (certainly not this great forum of *****'s)"
I sure don't get you Mark.
Steve and Barb have devoted a large chunk of their lives to this website and bringing letterheads together from all around the world. Letterville is a phenomenal accomplishment and an incredible source of fellowship and resources for so many in this industry. It is also the Shortreed's livelihood, why are you so intent on damaging it?
Sorry for continuing the derailment of your post Ryan. Southern Muster looks like a great gathering. I know the amount of planning and work that goes on behind the scenes. It looks like you have things well under control, good on you for taking it on! I hope Letterheads are considerate and register early so you can plan better. That isn't always easy especially in this business where last minute jobs with time sensitive deadlines land in your lap on a regular basis. Good Luck.
Posted by Mark Fair Signs (Member # 289) on :
what are you talking about Kelly? No one is trying to damage anyone. How dare you say such a thing. where do you come off being judge and jury?
Posted by Kelly Thorson (Member # 2958) on :
I'm not judging, just not understanding. If you hate the bickering that goes on here so much why do you partake in it?
I am defensive of my friends just as you are of yours. I most definitely consider the Shortreed's in that category. Thats all.
Posted by Mark Fair Signs (Member # 289) on :
Don't act so innocent Kelly. You have already said what you intended to say and the damage is done.
Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
Anyone for some Chinese? Bruce Ward is buying. Oh, Mark fair says he will pitch a couple of bucks in, too.
Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
Kelly can chip in, too.
Posted by Steve Shortreed (Member # 436) on :
Let's not concentrate on our differences. The only thing really important is that Letterheads are getting together for a live meet. This has been going on long before there were any websites.
Live meets are still your very best opportunity to meet up in person, learn something new, and share any secrets you have picked up at this point in your own career. It's about recharging your batteries and making new friends.
To me, a "Letterhead" that has never attended a live meet is similar to a kamazasi pilot with 50 missions. We all agree the idea behind Letterheads is still as wonderful as it was back in the 70s. I'd like to encourage everyone reading this to get up off your best intentions and attend this meet. That invitation includes all you old Letterhead Vets! Start going to meets again. Join in the action and watch the fire reignite within yourselves.
Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
I am accepting all donations of money so that I can attend this meet without having to skip a mortgage payment.
Thank you for your help.
Posted by bruce ward (Member # 1289) on :
why does it have to be chinese? can I not pick the food?c'mon Bruce I have been to Wisconsin I will choose to have Kopps and canadian bacon sandwich...uh, not all together mind you
Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
OK, Brother, since you're buying, you can choose.
Posted by Lee McKee (Member # 3533) on :
Steve Shortreed Rocks! Thanks for putting this thread back on track...
This meet is going to be a great one guys... And I hope all that can attend will but, We have quite enough people registered to have a great time but, WILL go over the original number of 50 if necessary. That being said... We will have a registration cut off date of Sept. 20th. This way we can plan accordingly for the number of people who will be there. So if you have not sent in your money this will be your last chance. Thanks...That is all

Looks like a gorgeous venue. Wish I could make it. Bubba Fair, that slideshow brought a tear to my eye, Ashokan Farewell is a favorite and always chokes me up. Sometimes I play it just so I can cry, I am a hard-shelled gal. Love....Jill
Posted by Dave Grundy (Member # 103) on :
I echo what Jill said about the venue Ryan..Looks great!
Of the several meets I have attended, those that were held "in the country" were about as good as it gets. (Well the one in Bloomington IN was also pretty good too, but for other reasons!!! )
Jill's last meet was super as was Brian Hanson's meet in New Brunswick and Jimmy Chatham's in GA was a lot of fun too!
Almost makes me want to attend another one...but we'll be a bit further south in November.
I know you will all have a great weekend!!!
Posted by Ryan Culbertson (Member # 7560) on :
All the credit for this meet goes to Lee McKee. I'm just fired up about it & trying to find out who else is!!!!

It looks like we are going to have quite a few people at the meet... many have registered and paid up early but it seems in the last week since the deadline we have had 10 or so people contact me about signing up. So, in the interest of every body getting a chance to join in on the fun we will leave the registration open untill October the 15th. But after that We will have to stop accepting people so we can get an accurate head count for caterers, t-shirts and Panel Making Materials.
I just want to say thanks to all the people that have responded to this Call for a Dixie Letterhead Meet. I first thought that We would have a couple Diehard Sign Guys and a few locals and not much else..... But WOW! You guys really came out of the woodwork! People from ALL over too! Good on you guys for making this Meet a Good one! Thanks!
