Hi, I had a customer send me an eps file so I could cut out the clipart for his sign. When I try to open it , it says "%1 is not a valid Win32 application. I tried to save it and then import and it won't import either. Any help? Thanks!

What program are you using?
Most programs you must import an eps file, rather than trying to open it.

I am using Flexi-Sign 7.6. I saved the file to my hard drive and tried to import but says file format not supported. I usually use eps files. She did say it was an illustrator eps file. Would that make a difference? What other format would work for me?
Thanks, Mary

I use Flexi 7.6 and Illy CS2. Try that. eps works great with Flexi but it might need to be CS2 or Illustrator 10 even.

Have you tried to import it into Flexi? or are you trying to open it with flexi.
I have imported many .eps files into flexi before without any issues.

What I have done is right click and select "save as" I save it on the hard drive and then try to import it into my flexi file. Could there be an issue with a fire wall? I don't know much about that but just a thought as to why it says it is not supported.

No, not a firewall issue. can you see the filename, and the extension?
Like Name.eps ? I wonder if the extension is incorrect. Make sure the file extension is eps.

Have the customer resend it. It may have been corrupted via emailing. Better still...if they can burn it on a disc and deliver it to you.
Hope this helps... Rapid

It's possible the file was created with more recent Illy than your import filters can recognize. Send the file to me and I'll see if I can open or import it and back save it to Flexi 7.

It is an eps file extension. I will send to David and see if he has any luck. Thanks for everything!

Just as I suspected, it was created in a very new version of Illy. It's converted and on the way.

Thanks so much. It opened up great. What should I tell people next time they send me clipart? Should I request it send in a different format?

If they have CS2 or CS3, ask them to save it in "Legacy Format", which will probably confuse them to no end. That saves it as an Illustrator 10 or below file, rather than CS2 or CS3. I think the above terminology is accurate--someone please correct me if I've stated it wrong. I only use CS2 for file opening purposes. I've used Corel since version 2 and am much more familiar with it.
What you sent me was two files with identical names but different sizes. The larger size file imported into CS2, Corel X3 and X4, and Flexi 8. The small one just generated error messages. I've noticed the files I get from ad agencies are often that way, in pairs. I've learned just to work with the larger one.
