Hello Letterville! I am having an issue with mounting signs on lightpoles. I have posted a photo below of what I have been using. We had 2 signs fall down in the last month.
Does anyone have a better solution or is this a good solution and I mark it up to wind? The sign has been up for about 8 months and the other was up over a year. The other sign company they use to use mounted the signs with a solid 'channel' that runs the length of the sign...I am unable to find anything similar. I am using 4mm dibond and the hex nut 'pinches' the sign into the bracket. I thought 3 brackets would be enough. Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also...I from what I have seen, it's the sign coming out of the brackets.

You have a large sail hanging out in the wind without much to grab it by. Dibond is relatively soft. The hex screws that pinch it in place likely dimple the surface and it then works loose. Something stiffer, such as .125" Aluminum, would probably work better, however a more robust bracket should help. Someone here will chime in with the perfect hardware for this application.

David- Thanks for the insite. It is a rather large sail (I did get a chuckle out of that). I'll look into the .125 al material.

Hiya Scott, I think David is on to something. I think solid aluminum would be a better substrate too. Just out of curiosity, did you try Hooks and Lattice? http://www.hooksandlattice.com/signage.html They offer custom fabrication services Maybe they can fabricate the bracket you're looking for.

Wind stress.
Attaching the sign directly to the pole leaves no swing for windy days and the stress is being sent directly to the pole clips. Hanging a nice bracket onto the pole and then the sign onto that would be a better option. It will disperse the stress and no need to remake it on another substrate.

Here are a few option: 1. We can make a slip over bracket if you have access to the top of the pole. We can do almost any of our 20+ standard sign brackets in this slip over style.
2. We can make clam shell type clamps that will allow you to attach the sign bracket to a pole with drilling into it. Again, almost any design can be turned into a clamp on sign bracket.
3. We could also make a bracket with curved backplate straps that could be drilled into a pole. (Sorry I don't hace a good picture of this idea.)
