Hey guys, I wanted to thank you all with the gym floor advise. I knew I could count on you. I haven't had the time to computer a bunch lately that's why is has taken so long to thank you.
Michael and Nikki, yes I did understand about how tedious this thing would have been, with timing and how it is very important to get it right. And noway Michael did I take it personal. Thank you both for your help.
JillBeans....you would not believe how much your push to be professional looking, even as the redneck that I am, helped me. This entire meeting of about an hour...all I could think about is do like Jillbeans sit up, smile, and the peeing in my pants, honestly I came close. After the meeting the floor guy told me how professional my presentation was..I was ever so shocked. Then two days later the superintendent of the job came to see me to tell me the 2 men were very impressed with my knowledge, and my presentation, they told him also I was very, very professional....SOOOOOOOOoooo Jillbeans thank you so much. Mission accomplished !!!!
Dave ....Thank you ever so much for taking up your time with me on the phone. You are by far the US's gym floor graphic master, sergeant, general, specialist, king!!! . I did everything you said..and I really think that they were surprised , this old country bumpkin had done her homework. I can never repay you for you generosity. I also don't think I gave you my entire email address so you could send me some photos..I would be thrilled if you could send me some. barbflem@embarqmail.com
Folks, this guy knows his stuff. Plus is so polite...I couldn't have enjoyed a conversation more. Thanks Dave.
Anyway......I refused the job. The first statement they brought up that this floor was 100,000 dollars....Talk about intimidation.!! The asst. superintendent of the school did everything to try to convince them I was qualified for the job. They had no doubt about the quality, but as we all know it was the timing and compatibility, they had trouble thinking I couldn't get right. I told them every procedure step by step I was going to do, but they still kept saying there would be no warranty. One guy was especially a smart---, but I wouldn't let him overrule. One of the statements I said, (where they stammered a bit,) was, "A paint job can only be as good as the substrate it is put on"...And they said,,yep, yep you are absolutely right. In the last statement, as I said to them, I could never let my community, staff at the school, or the students there, be disappointed in me. I would decline.
A couple of days later, our superintendent of schools, said to me "I hate they were so arrogant to you Barbara....When they are working on this job, I personally will watch them to make sure this floor is absolutely perfect. And deep down, I hope they make a flaw"....OHHHH Weellllll. An personally being the evil witch that I am , me too.
Thanks again guys...for all your help.

Good for you, Barbara! I am proud of you for standing up to them, in a very professional and knowledgeable manner. I am a wimp, personally, and whenever I have to do this type of thing I pretend I'm my oldest sister (who is a consumate professional and 100% class act) I never let them know I am nervous. Even if you turned down the job I still feel that you are the one who left that meeting in the "power" position. Good for you! Love....Jill (secretly hoping there is a booger sealed under the clearcoat)

Way to go girl! I'm proud of you for not letting them intimidate you.
Should there be a problem with the floor, let's hope Karma is at work & it's the smart---'s fault.

Way to go Barb. I knew you could be the real pro there. Believe me, if your super looks hard enough, he'll be able to find some kind of flaw. He'll have some kind of ammo to take them smug bast...s down a notch. I know you would have done a marvelous job.
