This traveling brush is headed south again....Going to help Mr. Sonny Franks in Lilburn Georgia....scheduled stops in Lincoln Illinois so far, I'm going to visit my son in Red Stone Arsenal, Huntsville Alabama, then Lee in Birmingham, Mark Fair (front cover of SignCraft!) in Montgomery Alabama, and possibly heading west to Whicita Falls Texas and Keith Myers. Those crazy rebels in South Kack-a-lackie, Donald Thompson, Ryan Culbertson, might have a wall to do as well...
the plan is to drive thru Iowa, into Illinois, stop in Lincoln see Adam May, then south to Paducah KY, thru Nashville tenn, Chattanooga, then down into HOTlanta. The Minnesota Wild are playing in Atlanta Friday night, I might sneak away and go to that game! Also I have noticed that the next NASCAR race is in Atlanta this Sunday..I have never been to a NASCAR race!
After working in Georgia, and seeing m'boy in 'bama, I'm planning on stopping in Birmingham, and Montgomery them highway 20 West to Texas thru Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. not sure about the route back north...anyone out there that would'nt mind a visit? I like to see new shops and people! my mobile number while on the road...
507-421-3940
I have set-up XM radio for this trip and traded my '99Ford 250 Diesel gas guzzler for a 2000 Chevy Astro van with a bed in da back like my old one was fixed up! That ol girl went coast to coast more than a few times! Over 250 K on her and she was just getting old...I'm going to continue her service by making her into a trailer!
well....we jsut got a 2-3 inch snow dusting over night, and I bet it will all be gone by the time I get back!
See you on the road! Got a project you need help with...gimme a call!

Hey Mikey,
If you head south outta Lincoln, and take a left when you get to I-64, It's only a bout 35 miles farther to come by here instead of Paducah. We're about 6 hours from Hotlanta.
Posted by mike meyer (Member # 542) on :
Thanks Don! I'll see how it's going, I jotted down yur number, I'll call ya from the road!''The windows that Stevo posted are the glass windows that use to adourn my shop....The small "signs" job was done by Scott Telfer Glasgow Scotland during the 2004 Muster in sub zero temps! The other 2 were done by the Gold Leaf master from Australia, John Jordan himself! I wanna get shots of different shops along the trip...get yur shop SPIFFED UP!

If you are going through Paducah, allow a couple of hours to check out the flood wall murals. AWESOME!!!!!!! Easily accessible from I-24
The photos don't do these justice.
Posted by mike meyer (Member # 542) on :
George, I have been thru Paduke ah and I couldn't find them..???
I think they washed off...did they use tempra colors?
I'll look harder this time...The junk cars and trailer parks are so crowded that it's hard to get thru thar.....y'all

Have fun on your trip, Mike! We made a deal, you gotta work on your picture posting before you go because we want to see lots of pictures of all the shops you visit!!!
On the sleeping in the van thing... first thing I thought of was "Hi, I'm Mike Meyer... I'm a motivational speaker and I live in a VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER."

Posted by George Perkins (Member # 156) on :
Mike, take HWY 60 North off I-24 takes you right to the murals. Maybe a ten-fifteen minute drive.
I don't know where you were, seeing junk cars and trailer parks, I've always found Paducah to be a pretty nice town...

A man, 4 wheels a brush and a long paint trail up the road....Give me a call if you're coming through. Maybe we can hassle some store owners into letting us graffiti up the sides of their walls.

Hey Mike, I wonder what would happen should you be able to enter all those addresses into MapQUest?
Posted by Jane Diaz (Member # 595) on :
If you GPS the Paducah Quilt Museum the murals are across the street. Been there, done that, SEVERAL times! The murals go on for blocks and ARE worth the trip. David (Herbie), Rob & Steve Estes are all there in that neighborhood too.

OK, step aside, let the man through - we got work to do here - y'all can have him back after we wear him out painting concrete.
Looks like I'm about to become a Minnesota Wild hockey fan. I'm cool with that, but will somebody please come to Atlanta and take Mikey to the NASCAR race? Hanging out with a zillion drunk rednecks sniffing toxic fumes all day ain't my cup of tea -
.... unless you call it a Dixie Letterhead Meet.......
Posted by jake snow (Member # 5889) on :
Call Ricky J. Sonny, he'll take Mike to the race. That is right up his alley.
(no pun intended) well mabey a little....

The Thrashers beat the Minnesota Wild last night in an overtime shootout attended by Letterville's own hockey nut, Mike Meyer.
He even managed to convert me:
Mike at the CNN Center:
We did manage to squeeze in some work yesterday too. In fact, I thought I'd pounce a pattern on a couple of walls while Mike started painting the first one. He was finished before I could get the next pattern on - I don't know if I can keep up with this guy........

Never done NASCAR?
Now you will spend winters only on hockey . . . spring, summer and fall will be racin'.
Youz just missed the Bridge Crossing Jubilee here in Historic Selma where the famous civil rights march was (partially) re-enacted. ANY~way, we locals, that is, anyone within 3 hours of Lilburn, should show up and have a mini-meet!! You guys name the Saturday we can make it happen!!

Hey Mark, I talked to Mike today and he was headed back to Mazeppa after going up to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL to see his son Caleb.
A very good sign job came up and he had to cut his north American tour short. He stayed about 2 hours at my shop and when he pulled away from my shop I heard "I wish I was in the Land of Cotton..."
Posted by mike meyer (Member # 542) on :
whew.......just walked into the shop here in Mazeppa....3170 miles! walking around like franeknstein..
must rest..
must paint...

Hey Mike,
Why don't you take the long way home through upstate NY (about 2 1/2 hours north of Albany), then cut across Canada.
We have a local college hockey team playing in the NCAA quarter finals this weekend, wicked good hockey.
If your travels will head into next weekend, they may be playing in the Div III Frozen Four in Lake Placid (Herb Brooks Arena). It's only 32 miles from my house!
I am only an hour south of Montreal, and the Bruins are playing there Sat the 22nd!
Enough hockey enticing,....safe travels Mike!
Peace, Bob
