I was going to leave this until later in the year, but have been prompted by several requests by the more keen participants of #7.

I'm still going to leave the deadline date 08/08/08 for final pics to be forwarded to me for the draw. [Wink]

This will mean you have plenty of time to think about it and produce the panel. So, NO EXCUSE! Join in.

Theme: Panel Swap #8 is RETRO 8 x 10 = 1928 !!!!

Let's go Old Signs, old labels, old scrolls, old techniques.

So, start those creative juices flowing!

Simple Rules:

1. E-mail me at jonsigns@icr.com.au with a .jpg file of your finished panel before 08/08/08.

2. Limit 2 panels per person.

3. Draw will be done asap after that date and all panels posted on the BullBoard.

I'm thinking it shoulda read 8 x -10, then it makes sense, 80 years ago would be 1928.

Of course if you define "Retro" that might explain the math too.

This should be fun.

BUMP!

OK, "Retro 80" is BACK 80 years to 1928 or earlier ... when Si was just a twinkle in his parents eyes [Wink]

I'm thinking Old signs, old adverts, old fonts, old scrolls.

If you can add in an "8" extra marks!

Vicki, my daughter on a traveling sign odossey around Australia, has be doing some "old' panels to flog off at some of the local Sunday Markets.

And selling heaps!

 -

She get marks for the "8" Ball, and the Murray Steamer one prompted the company to employ her to "update" all their signage in that little corner of the Murray river in the same style.

I've been playing with paint and fonts. This one was done for the local Pioneer Museum ... love job ... but fun.

 -

They are the side panels for a Model T Ford pickup. Coal-fired pie warmer mounted on the tray!

Font started out as Times Roman. Then I started to play with it. Thanks Mickey for the ideas from the panel you gave me in Canada.

OK .. seeds are sown in Spring! Yer got the summer to germinate.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

This time for Panel Swap #8 I am going to put all entries submitted into a popular vote on the BullBoard!

Jon,

I had my mom check out the past panel swap projects and we were discussing my panel ideas.

She is a fine artist vs being a sign artist and was hoping to get in on the swap. Is that O.K? Would it be one panel for each of us or can we each present (2) max?

Thanks!

hey . . . ya know what? There's even time to do this now and leave the piece outside to actually weather . . . how cool izat?

Hi Jon
Even with that time rate I think I can
make it count me in

Your mum is most welcome Nikki. Anne McDonalds mum was at the Kiwi Meet and joined in. I swapped a panel with her.

And it's limit of two panels per person, so go for it.

Just over 4 months to go ... but don't leave to the last minute [Wink]

Just checking...
Is the deadline 08/08/08 at 08:08 AM or 08:08 PM ?

Posted by Ian Stewart-Koster (Member # 3500) on :

IN your case, Empy, as long as you flew over and hand delivered it, you could choose either of those two times!!!

So like, I want to be in. Do I do the sign, take a digital pic, and send it in? Because it's gonna be a hand job, no computor stuff.

Posted by Jon Butterworth (Member # 227) on :

Yes Alicia. Do the sign, take a pic and sent it to me before 08/08/08.

I will put all the entries in a hat and draw one one swaps. Then e-mail everybody with details of who they are swapping with. It's then up to you to mail the panel.

Sounds like a lot of fun, Jon. I'm definately up for it. Nic's going to be stoked - right up his alley. Is there a preferred size? How do we choose the swapees? BTW Thanks for showcasing my little signs. I just love your PIEOLOGIST signs - that sounds like an authentic science.....
