I've got two seperate problems.

One, when I do design work on my laptop (Corel 8)
I get a few minutes into it and then the image disapears! It's still there (nodes are present) but the image is gone. I have to save as, then reopen Corel to go back to work....it will do it again after a while. it's really annoying.
Any suggestions?

Other problem is with my desktop in the shop.
(It's not connected to the internet there)
When I went to boot up it just keeps restarting when it gets to the windows xp professional logo.

I shut it down, tried several times, same thing.

Thanks
A:)

Ideas from a non-expert:
with corel, can you zoom out & back in again, or open a second page in the document, and then go back to the one you were on. I find that helps, sometimes.

with XP- do you have automatic updates turned on to automatically install? A friend had a similar problem recently, and they tech told her somehow the configuration file what loads her settings & preferences when it boots up had disappeared, & he was blaming auto update. They copied another config file over, by putting the hard drive in an external caddy, and using a different computer, then hers booted normally after that.

refresh button?

In Corel you could try Control W to refresh the window.
The other machine is in a boot loop, you could try booting from an XP disk, then selecting the repair console option and entering chkdsk /p at the prompt.
Be warned when booting from the cd, you can potentially format the drive.

Check for the default level of Undo files which may be around 99. Knock it down to around 20 or less & see if that helps any. Depending on file size that could cause extreme amount of memory usage.

Thanks for the advice, but that's a bit too hi-tech for me..... [Confused]

My Dad has an extra tower I can have, I'm going to try to hook that one up and install Corel into it instead.

Corel 8 quick fix....

Change your view settings to another mode (wireframe, etc) and then back to what you were using. Sort of a roundabout way to refresh the screen.
