I'm wearing my 1989 Grey Cup Champions "Saskatchewan Roughriders" pin. Bring it home guys.

I think it's going to be a classic battle. Certainly there aren't any bigger rivalries in the CFL. I'm playing host to fans from both cities today, so look out! I think if Dinwiddie doesn't crash and burn early, this could be very close. My Saskatchewan roots have kicked in. For today I'm a 'rider fan. Bring on the combines and banjos. Go 'riders!!!

OK, I have to say, being a complete observer from this side of the border. Who in their right mind calls a prestigious trophy a "GREY" cup. I mean come on, grey is got to be the most boring and drab color there is, but yet it is associated with such a prestigious trophy, given to the team who has endured, and shined alll season.
Why not give each player his own cotton ball for crying out loud.
Somebody needs to slap the person who named this trophy REAL hard!
Congrats anyway. no matter what it is called.

Oh Bob,
From Wikipedia: "In 1909, the Grey Cup was donated by the then Governor General of Canada, Earl Grey...."
(Presumably, Earl Shiney wasn't available )

I knew it had to be something like that, but it unless you knew that it sounds like the lowest cup to be given.
Gee mom the other team got the golden cup, and we got the grey cup

Still better than a Super "BOWL" you can't drink from !!!
But the nicest catch on the planet remains the Stanley Cup.... of course.
Posted by Bob Rochon (Member # 30) on :
I dunno,
You have a choice of drinking from a " grey cup " or a " Super Bowl "
which sounds more appealing?
of course this is all in fun. I mean no disrespect.
Posted by Duncan Wilkie (Member # 132) on :
Bob, Bob, Bob... a cup is for drinking from and bowl is used a bit later.

Forget grey cups & super bowls..... I'd be way more interested in making friends with whoever has the golden pitcher. Pitchers hold more than cups & bowls.

I would much rather have my cup runneth over than my bowl. Less mopping involved....
