So what are all our fellow letterheads cruzin around in? I was reading the post about the new Cuda and it got me thinking. What kind of shop truck(s) do you have? What’s your personal car like? What’s your dream car? What’s your favorite car you’ve ever owned? What was the first car you ever owned?
I’ve just recently sold my 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue (It was a great car but didn’t really fit my style.) So I bought a brand new Mustang. I love that car.
For work, we drive around in this:
My dream car would be the 1969 Corvette Stingray convertible. Or… for nostalgic purposes, a Delorean
And my first car was… drum role please… 1989 Chevy, Beretta…. God that thing was a piece.

Yo Ray...I drove a 1969 Chevy Chevelle 2 door in high school....and then bought/drove my brothers 1971 Monte Carlo...buckets with the upside-down U shifter and console. That car had some nads with a 350 and I believe 245 (or 75) hp.

Here's my money pit...
'69 Big Block (police car) engine, full frame w/6 point full roll cage, Dodge Challenger posi rear-end narrowed 12 inches, wheel tubs, 14 inch wide Hoosier Pro street radials, stainless exhaust...and on and on. Owned it since 1980 and have been tossing dollars at it ever since!
That is Mr. Joe Bird from London hangin' out at the Muster meet. He was a big car guy so I gave him a tour of Musterland in the old blue beater!
The only problem is my car is in the middle of the country and I am on the east coast!
I hope to buy one of these next so I don't have to build another one myself....besides, it will be cool to have the 40th Anniversary version for the other side of the garage.

After having a truck, I could never be without! 4x4 2003 (I think) black dodge dakota 4 door, canopy now. Black leather interior. Not pimped out at all. Generally dirty these days. No lettering. I love it!

I don't have a picture handy to post, but we drive a 2003 Avalanche for work and play. It is a great vehicle for our type of work, as the fold down seats makes it easy to haul the 8' materials.
My husband won a 97 BMW Z3 Roadster, it is an awesome 2 seat convertible that we drive all summer! Bright red. It is great on gas, and just a cool ride.
My favorite.....65 Chevy Convertible.

Someday I will learn how to post photos. 1st car: 1964 2 door hardtop Chevy Impala. Cragar 5 spoke chrome wheels, dual exhaust, 4 speed on the floor with 327 V8 small block.
Favorite car: 1968 blue Camaro convertible, 327 automatic. Traded it (like a fool) for a 1982 red Pontiac Firebird with aluminum wheels and spinners, rear window louvers, Eagle GT tires.
Now, after my daughter Emily was born 4 years ago, I drive a 2006 Mid-Life Chrysler Town & Country Mini-van. Since my hopes of a sports car has been cancelled, I got the Walter P. Chrysler edition with 2-tone leather seats (heated), sunroof, power everything, DVD player in the ceiling, Stow and Go seats, AND chrome wheels!
I can't hardly stand the excitement. Probably why I work a lot of extra hours at the shop.

Workshop Vehicle ... 2004 Mitsubishi Long wheel base Van ,,, third one I've had.
I like the sliding side doors both sides for access and have fitted an 8x4 removable tray just below window level to carry signs etc.
It has a tow bar and ladder rack fitted since this pic was taken.
Other "Company Vehicle" is Sue's new 2007 Honda CRV ... again the third one we have had. Nice car!
First car I owned was a 1948 MGTC ... wish I still had it.
Dream Car ... Mini Cooper S ... I had one of the originals and still love them.

'97 mazda minitruck, lowered and body hacked to pieces then re-welded back together and under primer awaiting more body work and paint.
Fresh on the front burner though is a couple new projects.
First one is a prototype all-electric powered mini motocross bike. Testing some different motor, controller and gearing combos. Once "playing" is done with this Frankenbike (you should see this poor thing, cut, weld, grind, cut weld grind, rinse repeat) it's on to an empty rolling chassis for a 125cc dirtbike which will feature the best combination of components from the prototype, to dish out the abuse on the local desert trails.
After that, I want to build a fully enclosed fire-breathing electric powered recumbent bike, started the drawings for this one a few days ago. Shooting for a top speed around 60MPH and acceleration to rival the quickest sportbikes.

First car 1968 VW Beetle, painted same color light metallic green as my dream car, my dad's 1969 Mustang Mach I.(which he doesn't have anymore.) He paid $3500 brand new in 1969, now worth over $35,000.
Biggest regret is trading in my wife's 2006 Mini Convertible for the Avalanche.

‘01 Chevy Silverado shortbox 4.8l. It’s been debadged, tint, 50 series Flowmaster dual exhaust, Air Raid intake, chrome grille with TYC lights, billet bowtie and 20” Torque Thrust ST’s with 275/45 boots all around. Planning on a 2/4 drop in the spring with roll pan and LED tails.
First truck I had was a ’72 Chev ½ ton, lowered and shaved all around. Dream truck is a ’57 Ford F100, flat black on bags and whitewalls. It’s the only Ford I’d ever own.

I have a red 2003 Dodge Dakota all lettered up and a 2003 Jaguar x-type with AWD that comes in handy on the icy roads here in the winter. I had a '91 Chevy Astro for 11 years that I wore completely out. When things you've never heard of start wearing out its time to get rid of it. Edit: my draem car is probably my Jaguar, I'm driving over the mountains to Sedona today with my lady and my sister & husband who are in town. My first car was I think a '52 Pontiac with straight 8. I paid $50 for it and it ran for about a month. Another winner was a '36 Dodge coupe. It had no back seat, just a huge trunk. An old guy across the street said he had an identical one for running bootleg whiskey the trunk held a lot.

I drive the Dragon Wagon. www.wildwoodsigns.ca It's a 2001 Chevy Venture. My husband Clare has been on my case for 2 years to get a new one, but it sells me more signs than I can remember. So I will keep driving it until it drops. And i will keep replacing the window film as needed. It only has 137,000 K on it so it may be quite a while, I guess I really don't drive very much long distance except to go to sign meets.
Clare has a 1971 Opel that he takes drag racing. 8.2 seconds in the quarter. A real "Mail Getter". And he is working on an old Dodge Dart that's starting to look real good. I call them the black holes for our money. My first car was a Chevy Malibu- 1960/70 something, It was pretty scary looking, so I went out and bought myself a 1978 Camaro. Gosh I really loved my Camaro, wish I had never sold it. My dream car? I really couldn't tell you. Never thought about it before. Something rag top though.

When I was 13 I bought my first car - '31 Chevy five window coupe (and no, it wasn't new) for $75. The following year I finally got a driver's license (yes, you could get them then at 14), sold the coupe for $100 and bought a Cushman Eagle motor scooter, brand new for $425 and had to work all summer to pay for it.
While in high school I had a '50 Ford, a '53 Ford and then a '56 Ford, all of which we (Dad, brother and me) built from junk yard cars.
As a senior in college I bought a sharp '63 Chevy, two door hard-top and put a lot of miles on it.
Now, I have a 2000 Chevy Trail Blazer that is the shop vehicle and Jeanne drives a Nissan Maxima.
Dream car? '32 Ford five window coupe.

This is pretty interesting, because today on CNN this morning they had a bleep about a guy in Wichita, KS who was tricking out suv's and other monster cars with biodiesel engines. One car was going from 400hsp to 1000hsp. Also with the biodiesel there's not all the black smoke generally associated with diesels.
Gov.Schwartzeneger was having his tricked out and Neil Young was having his 60's something 19'long Caddy converted and was saying that it was going from 10m/gal to 100m/gal.
So save those muscle cars work through the night and on weekends and save for a conversion. Get on that guy's waiting list, he's a year booked in advance.
There's got to be more of those people out there with those capabilities, because when opportunities present themselves the rest is history. The big auto companies don't care too much, yet, so POWER TO THE PEOPLE....!!!

Yeah you’re probably right. You got love the Camaro… both new and old. If I could have waited the extra year and if it’s going to be within my budget, that would have been the car. Never the less, I love my Mustang. Now all I have to do is pimp it out. I want to get wheels like what Dan Antonelli has on his car. Although… I didn’t picture Dan driving around in a station wagon. Haha , Just kidding Dan that’s a sweet ride.

Its amazing you all have powerful very clean looking cars, I tried this but it wasn't really me.
I had a Chevy for about 6 years and an old Dodge before that, but with gas prices more than double what they are over in the states I have gone back to drving tractors (Land-Rovers).
They're all diesels, and they all run economically, and are easy to fix, not very bling, and not very warm in winter....but it strengthens your character!

This is my daily driver work vehicle:
A land Rover Defender 110, diesel I have another 130 Diesel, and then we have other vehicles like a Volvo station wagon of course....in Sweden drive a swedish car...Range Rover etc.
Somebody told me that it was important to have a big old V8 to pull a trailer, well it works with a 2.5litre turbo diesel, it just takes abit longer to get there

Todd, It’s funny you mention Shelby Cobra I actually have the 40th Anniversary Edition for my desktop wallpaper at home. http://www.flickr.com/photos/fordautoshows/1815801706/ That is a sweet car. As far as the Camaro, when I first heard that they were making a transformers movie both Ben and I were searching the boards to find leaked photos. That is when I first saw the new camaro… That was like 2 years ago I think maybe longer. I fell in love with it then. It wasn’t until this summer when I was shopping for a new car and I spoke to the Chevy dealer that I found out they were actually going to start producing those. I had no idea at the time. I figured it was just one of those concepts that they would never make. But I needed a car now. And I always liked the mustang, especially since they went back to the retro muscle car look.

Out of all the ones mentioned I think I would most like to have one like Henry's Defender 110 or the 130. Over here we have the Defender 90 but they seem to be very expensive. I have always loved the look of the old Land Rovers.

My work truck is a '95 Silverado ext cab with 216k miles.
I use an '02 Tahoe 4x4 to haul all of our instruments for gigs; two guitars, a banjo, mandolin, upright bass, mixer, monitors, big speakers, 8 mics sand mic stands, guitar stands and equipment and all five band members. I hate pulling trailers...
Our 13 year-old son drives our newest vehicle....a 2 1/2 year old quarterhorse.

Right now I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, which is an alright but not spantacular vehicle. I got that after getting rid of my 95 Saturn POS. My first vehicle was a early 90s red S-10 (probably my favorite as of thus far). As for a dream car, anything that transforms into a giant robot and shoots lasers from its eyes, or a just a really big pickup.

I trade Chevy trucks every couple of years. The last one is a 2005 Z71, bright red, regular cab with a tonneau lid, so I can carry all of my paint and an 8' ladder. I used to keep them gold leaf lettered, but I got too many calls from bozo clients wanting some little nit project. Most of my clients are recidivists, anyway. I have some 250 new car dealers I paint showroom windows for.
For a fun treat, I just bought a 97 SL500 Mercedes convertible. What a joy. It is the smoothest car I have ever driven. Some cardiologist in AZ had it and traded it in the the benz dealer down there. A buddy of mine trades Benzes and made me a ridiculous deal on it. New Chrome five spoke wheels and a mega tune box. Talk about showing up to the client in style. Interesting post. I used to be a hard core gearhead. I'm still interested in cars just not as ate up with it as I used to be.
My first car was a 46 Ford sedan. It never saw the road. My first driver was a 55 Chevy sedan. Had a lot of fun with that one. I had a Stingray Vette new in 64. Cool car, fun to drive but too radical an engine for everyday driving. My favorite, I guess, would have to have been a 49 Ford pick up I had in the eighties. It had a hot 302 in it, would smoke the Camaros and Mustangs, had an overdrive transmission, was decent on gas and looked way cool. Our shop truck these days is a Pt Cruiser that also serves as our family car. Easily the most utilitarian vehicle I've ever owned. Very comfortable to drive, not fun, not fast but comfortable and , yes, I've still got the black S-10, it's got over 400,000 miles on it and it's presently on loan to my son.
Edited to add...I think the new Mustangs are really cool. Ford did a bang up job with the styling as Chrysler did with the Cuda, GM meanwhile is still hitting foul balls...Camaro???? Sorry but the racing stripes aren't enough to tie it in to the first generation car.

This is my 53 Chevy 3/4 ton. I started restoring it in May of this year. Right now everything is off the frame and in primer. Should be on the road this spring.

You do what you can with what you got... actually this '78 Toyota just keeps going, and going...not to mention I can experiment with different paint schemes, and not worry about toasting a high dollar ride. This truck has been a good one.

My first car was a '72 chevelle I bought at 15 before I could drive. I ripped out the 250ci straight 6 for the v8 from car number 2, a 71 impala
since then i've had around 56 more vehicles: cars, trucks or motorcyles. The days of changing cars frequently are over though...kinda. I bought a 2 door convertible Suzuki sidekick in september. Couldn't drive it because of my broken foot and sold it in october when I decided I didn't like the convertible part..
