Auckland sign company, Field Signs, will be the host for this year’s Letterheads event which takes place at the company’s Auckland premises at Maura Road Ellerslie.
The event will be the 10th anniversary of Letterheads in New Zealand, with the first attracting 23 people, and growing steadily over the years to draw 50 or more participants.
“The Keepers of the Craft” will again focus on the manually creative disciplines of signage, with a range of activities set to entertain, inform, enlighten and challenge participants at the gathering.
According to the publicity put out by Letterheads New Zealand, your entry ticket is to do a version of the10th anniversary logo any way you want to do it. Once in the door, there will be a full session of activities to keep you busy.
Gold leaf and gilding with Paul Jordan, son of the great master the late John Jordan, giving tips on this very precise field of signcraft. Another project is a large mural to be donated to the local town. The 9.6 by 2.4 metre work will be conceived by Tim Webb and managed by award winning signie Alex Burnett. The sheer size of this project means it will be all hands on deck.
There will also be plenty of airbrushing by some of the region’s masters, pinstriping and scrolling with Murray Wilson showing his stuff and even a body painting exercise with four ladies and two men taking part in a “Paint-Off”.

See you there Norm!
Kel Lawton and I arrive NZ 136 5.30pm Thursday 8th, and are staying at the Ellerslie Highway Motel.
We fly out early on the Monday morning due to my work commitments but we sure are going to pack some fun into 4 days!
Looks like our own OZ Letterhead meet next week is going to be a blast too. Over 40 registered including 4 Kiwis and a mystery American Lady ... Debbie? Plus late-comers trickling in and a few locals coming out for the day. Heaps of projects.
Can't wait for either Meet!

A great big THANK YOU to Chris for letting us come over the 'Ditch' and play in his workshop.
Jeff Harvey and I tossed some gold around, hopefully passed on some tips to those who attended the gold school. It was good to see that each person had their own idea about their panel. We had colour blending, faux marbeling, various types of gold leaf, varigated leaf, paua shell etc.
Here are a few photos to start off with, Brian painting his penguins
Anne (Tiger Lady) working on her glass
Scott, Vikki and Tennielle body painting, being watched by Bec, Scotts wife.
Holly Colwell, John Jordans youngest Granddaughter

Wow, looks like it was a good time! Who were all the aussies there?

Just a small correction, Jeff Harveys daughter is Kelly, not Vicki. She's a really talented girl and will certainly follow in her Dads golden footsteps. I had a marvellous time as always and Mum enjoyed herself even though she felt totally out of her comfort zone. I hope to attend a meet in the states next year, really looking forward to that!!

The winner of 'The Gold Father Award' at the Auckland meet was Anne (Tiger Lady) McDonald. Jeff Harvey supplied a presentation box with 'The Goldfather Award 2007' sandblasted into the lid. Inside the box was a mixture of materials for glasswork, silver leaf, varigated metal, glass chipping glue and other stuff. The Goldfather fund will also cover Annes airfares to the meet.
