I know a lot of you folks think the sign industry faces unique challenges when it comes to the business end of things but really, it doesn't.

Here's a blog I found, photography related, but golly.. the situations sound familiar, huh?

Good one Mike.

Very well worded to stand your grounds.

#11 - "We really like your work, but we don't want to spend a whole lot."

They probably have seen your higher end designs and want the same level of quality, but at a rate below what it's worth.
Don't fall prey to the suck up. If they want the good stuff, bill them for it. If they leave, you've lost nothing. If you knuckle under, you'll lose money.

Excellent post, a must to anyone starting in business. Or, you have to get burned to learn.

That's a great list. Wish I'd seen it before I had to learn most of it the hard way.

Nowadays whenever someone tries to pull #10 on the list (we're having cash flow problems) I look them straignt in the face and ask them, "So, have you filed for bankruptcy?" When they answer me, "Of course not" (it's usually accomanied by an offended look) I just reply, "Well, then give me my money"

But really, you'd have to be naive to believe any of that, regardless of experience.
