I am back into the router business after many years away from it and have bought a new computer with Windows 89 on it plus a new canon color copier and so far all was well. The problem I am having is that after drawing up a router job in Composer I want to print it out on my copier but all I can get is it in wire frame only. Not able to fill in the letters so they can be faxed to the customer.

I know there is an answer but so far I am unable to find it and the job is on hold until customer sees the images.
Not much use trying to talk to Gerber as they are too high up in the world for a mere mortal like myself to talk to, so they are not an option to go to.

Anyone out there that has had this problem that can give me an answer? or at least tell me what else I can try?

I have gone into the program and changed all that needs changing but still no luck.
Appreciate any help any of you may have.

Yours truly;
Leo

In the "File" menu, select "Paper Print".
In the box that pops up there is a place where you have three choices..
DRAFT
OUTLINES ONLY
FILLED
Select "Filled" and it should be OK.
Love....Jill
PS remember to get a deposit before ever giving any sketches to a customer!

Thanks Jill, did that and still will not fill in the whole letter, just a wire frame only.

Leo,
I don't have your answer, however maybe Rick Beseigal or Gene Golden may know. Trying Hyatt's All Things Creative or Garston Sign Supply on the weekdays, perhaps may help?

Just another thought as to why you may be having this problem. Are ALL of your shapes that you're attempting to print "CLOSED" ?? By that, I mean that all vector shapes have to be closed, in order for them to be printed as "filled".

To check this out, select the individual shapes and then magnify each one, paying particular attention to all corners, and where the outlines change direction ( start of a curve etc. ) If you use the "Hook tool" at the top toolbar, your nodes should ALL be showing as a black square. If any show up as a small circle, then that shape isn't closed. Using the hook tool, close any of the shape nodes that appear as circles, and that might cure your problem.

Hope this helps you out.

can you get the 'filled" display correctly on your monitor?

If so, another workaround is to not even print from the gerber software.

Arthur vanson posted a freeware screen capture program here years ago, that has been so useful I swear I use it on average at least twice a day every day since I got it.

It's called UltraSnap from Media Chance.com

Yesterday Photoshop crashed after I finished a mock-up drawing for a channel letter job, in which I removed an old sign, repainted the wall, & installed the new sign.. suddenly I couldn't copy, save, export or anything... then I remembered all I needed was the image, not the photoshop format, so I did a screen capture. I also capture images from emails, on-line faxes, pdf's, word docs... all kinds of uses, including the most common... creating ,jpg files to email from my own design programs, like you need to do. I have the program sett to make every capture 600 pixels wide... perfect for email... saves tons of time not having to specifically create email versions of a file & then modify the size. etc. etc.

This is going to sound like the old "Did you switch the TV to channel 3?", but did you assign a fill or dark vinyl color to the letters before you tried to print?

I thought that Jill's suggestion should work, but if you have your images all set to white, that's what it would print.

You could send me the file to check out if you continue to have problems.

Tom
