And another one of my personal favorites...(author unknown)
"If your outgo exceeds your income your upkeep will be your downfall"
And one you must never forget..."GET THE MONEY"
All of these will keep you in business for a long long time!
Anyone else got a few they'd like to share?

...CASH THE DEPOSIT CHECK BEFORE STARTING. (esp. for first time clients.) ...I avoided getting screwed for $600 once. simply because I needed cash that day, and went to their bank right after getting the check. The 'client' closed their account and jumped town. I still have a bunch of vinyl letters I made for the 'be-yotch'.

I'd rather focus on trying to do my best and grow a clientèle that wants that also.
The money can come through grateful hearts that way.
But still, learn to live within your means.

No sketches without a deposit. Charge for revisions after making two. Never email a high-rez jpg. Never email a sketch without a watermark. A last-minute rush client usually takes the longest to pick up their sign. Love....Jill

Lie- "Give me a good deal on this one and there will be alot more down the road." Cheat- "Could you sharpen your pencil on that one a little?" Steal- You've met their short deadline, they came into pick it up and without even pausing to say KMA, they tell you they'll mail the check tomorrow.

Quality, Service, Price,...you get to pick two Can't help gettin old, don't have to mature If the prospective client doesn't have the money for a deposit now, what makes you think he'll have all of it when the job is done? I can do it your way if you want, but for ugly I charge extra Starting a job without a deposit is like loaning money to a total stranger

There is NO such thing as a GOOD, FAST, and CHEAP Sign. You can have Good and Fast but it won't be Cheap; You can have a Fast, Cheap sign, but it won't be Good; or You can have a Good, Cheap sign but it won't be Fast!

I lady I did business with many years ago taught me a very good line...."Money up front, honey." You can leave off the "honey" if you use her line. Posted by Ray Rheaume (Member # 3794) on :
