All very nice!! Gee I can't help but wonder who had their hand in the color combinations on the Vet mural. I love the monotone look of the Bushie mural. Nicely done folks.

They look wonderful.
Where are their permanent homes going to be?
I can see some of the division lines but was wondering what size are they, Kelly?
Posted by Wayne Osborne (Member # 4569) on :
Awesome!- looks like you had a load of fun with those too!
Posted by Graham Parsons (Member # 1129) on :

They were all 10' x 20', except Tony's, which was 10' x 32'

Very awesome and very inspiring. It means alot to me to see people actually DOING, what I, for one , only dream about most of the time. I just makes me want to go out and DO SOMETHING. I just absolutely love seeing this type of work, and wish I could have been there.
I will not miss the next one, I can promise you that !

I made it back safely to the land of Maple syrup last night. A long journey capped off by a lightning and thunder show just over my house.
I too would like to offer up thanks to Kelly and her whole family for a great Walldog event. My host family was great and my "roomies" were also a treat to hang out with.
I was fortunate enough to be able to help out on David and Suzie's mural. It is always a joy to spend time with the Butler's!
I will try to do some pictures tonight after a day of rest at work! take care

Oh what a fantastic time! Kelly had it all together. Cheers girl! There was a learning curve to the paint, but obviously it didn't hurt the end results to the murals any. They will now be clear and bright for 100 years. I gave Tony a hand with his chinese mural. He had his daughter and another young girl helping and I have never seen two teenagers with such persistance and diligence. Those two girls worked hard from beginning to end. The town itself had a lot of interesting perks. Underground tunnels for one. Our hosts were wonderful people. So accomodating and gracious. The scariest part was the ride home. Our little Jazz jet hit a thunderstorm that had us on a real rollercoaster ride. But we made it. Thanks Again Kelly. Your family were all wonderful hosts. You should be very proud.

I also forgot to mention the fantastic work that was being done by Pat Welter and his crew on the antique fire truck. Wow. Fantastic work. And over in the other corner Rodger MacMunn had a whole bevy of 3D work going on for the Burrowing Owls. I didn't get to see the finished results of that but they were coming wonderfully when I had to take my leave. Cudos guys!

Mom's always been a planner, organized 6 kids and a husband for the last 30 years, and continues to do so. I had no doubt that she would pull this off and it would turn out so great.
This was my third letterhead meet, and I never cease to be amazed at the incredible talent and passion that is put on display at these events. It is an inspiration to see so many people pursuing their love for art and it make me feel more confident about the option to make a career out of my passions.
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to mentor us "sign virgins and wall puppies" and showing us the ropes...I felt very privilaged to have been surrounded by such experience and talent and wonderful people from around the world.
Thanks mom
ps. I hope you all got pictures of me in my flapper dress...because that was the first and last time you will ever see me struttin my stuff in a dress that short!

It was a pleasure to meet most of you, make some new friends and see some old ones as well. It was quite a honour to even be considered to be a project leader, especially knowing the work of the other project leaders, and having the pressure of putting something together of a calibur that might stand side by side in a 'gallery' of panels. I sincerely hope I wasn't too hard or pressured to many of you who worked so hard to put on this meet. It was quite a treat working indoors like one big family. I can't say enough about two special people on my team, put I should say more about the rest who helped to complete my panels...Deri Russell, Frank Maesen, Brenda Siemen, Robin Sherrard, Bob Hines and my 'wife' for the week, Nancy Bennett and our two daughters Erin and Megan. All you Canadian Letterheads who worked so hard to put this meet on, deserve a pat on the back. It takes a lot of work to put one of these walldog meets on, and you run into things you didn't expect, that happens. But the important thing is we did it, we finished the panels and the meet became a success. A lifetime book of memories. Congratulations!
In closing, did I ever tell you the story my grandpappy used to tell me? The one about the little birdy?

Well Kelly & all. I am home in Nova Scotia. First they hit our plane with lightning. 4 hour delay. Sent us on our merry way in a plane that got just past Winnipegg & had to do a turn-around & land at winnipegg.Transfered to another plane that got us to the big T O at 4 in the morning.Gave us hotel accomadations until we were to leave at 6.55. Rescheduled my flight for 12.55. Don't know what time Nancy & Noella got back to Cornwall. Boy Kelly, you sure can put on quite an affair. When you host the next one, I will hitch-hike.
REALLY had a great time. Western hospitality, first class!! So much went into this meet for the two years previous to make it a success. You wore many hats for the week. Mother, wife, worden, referee, adult baby sitter & bar maid. A large THANK YOU. Say high to Moose Jaw. Maybe a trip east will help.

Well Ruth and I finally home...Boy what a week...Monday was setup day and we were greeted by a hugh hail storm with hail the size of golf balls...then hit by a real heatwave the following few days, Made us glad we were doing all the murals inside under cover...A huge thank-you to all who came and participated and an even bigger thankyou to all the Living Sky heads who helped Kelly make this possible, from running last minute and getting scaffold to pounce powder and finding tin smiths to do some last minute shearing and bending so that all would be perfect and ready to rock once all the mural leaders arrived...As Tony said it was great having this all in one location, everyone could see all the murals in there progression, participate in and visit with each other often...Great seminars, as some of the newbies said how do you keep all this info from leeking out?...the Gold father banquet was incredible, with the link direct to Paul and his family, how cool tecnology can be...Bruce Ander and Rick Jansen great job on the 1915 REO Speedwagon and thanks to all who helped us complete this beauty...Thanks to everyone, we had a really good time. Pat and Ruth.

My turn to say a huge thank you to Kelly and her family, and all the others that helped her pull things together. Thanks to all the project leaders and congratulations on so many jobs well done to perfection. Awesome work. You all shined in Moose Jaw this weekend......and did it in style. Kelly your Gold Father Banquet speech was perfect...and the presentation very heart warming, John Jordan will live in our hearts forever. Now back to the real world of work piled high and start saving to attend the Moncton meet....off to work I go.....hopefully see everyone in Moncton. Well done Kelly.

Kelly, looks like everyone had a great time, it was great to be able to talk to you at the tribute. I'm sorry I couldn't be there but I will do my best to come over and share some good times. The tribute to Dad looked great, we had trouble with the sound as well. My thanks to you and Dan for putting it together. The video clip of Dad looked terrific and all the photos made a wonderful tribute to a truly special Letterhead. Would it be possible to we get a copy so we could show the rest of the family. I will be posting photos of Scott and Bec's wedding as soon as I can get hold of some, being Father of the Groom is as busy as being Father of the Bride, I never had a chance to take any photos myself.

Kelly,
My turn to shout your praises! You pulled it off - it was just wonderful to be a small part of it. I am in awe of the talent that turns up to gatherings like this and admit to feeling almost a fraud in the sign business by comparison. As I was told to expect, I'm suffering a bit from post-meet blues - I miss everyone already!
Looking forward to the next one - see what you've done?!

Nice work, fun party, lasting connections of hearts and skills...that's beautiful!
but tell me dear Tony, what does your mural say? Am I not reading it because I'm suffering from being so exclusively right handed?
Posted by Tony Segale (Member # 1380) on :
Aha, someone who is wise and curious, would like to know what the chinese text means.
The heading on the chinese mural is translated to: "Recognize Inspiration and Dedication"
The poem on the right reads: "Cleanse my heart completely, so I can understand the zen of art".
The poeam on the left: "I do not need those who praise me for my beautiful colors, I only want to keep the spirit of purity throughout the world".
Aho.
