I have seen reference to cutting vinyl using Corel Draw 11. What is the name of the program and where does one get it? I currently am using FlexiSign but need Corel's capabilities for a job I am doing now. Any help would be appreciated.

Harvie, depending on which machine you have, you can plot directly to your cutter out of Coreldraw... several here have discussed doing that, but I can't remember who it is that's an expert on that.... ask OP, he does it that way.
If you don't like that method, I use CoCut to cut directly out of Coreldraw, and really like it. I've used it for about 11 years now and through that time have tried quite a few others and never liked any as well as Cocut..
Of course, your other option in the meantime is to just export an .AI file out of Coreldraw, import into Flexi and cut that way...
You'll have more suggestions coming, I'm sure...
Edited to add: do a search for Cocut on Google and you can download a trial copy that will allow you to use it for 30 days, I think. That might get you through this job and you can figure out if you like it good enough to buy it.

There's always the need to double-check the file when sending a corel file, via ai, to flexi- I've had them double plot things, and make a bit of a mess at times. I find it's safer to do the importation, then ungroup and double-check everything before plotting.

Harvie, just use your plotter as a printer in corel. Vector images must have a black hairline outline, as that is what your plotter recognizes as the cutting line. Make your vector image. Say you want to cut out a red rectangle. Put a black outline on it and remove the fill. (otherwise the plotter will cut a thousand lines across your image as the plotter will recognize it as a series of vertical lines) Select your rectangle>file> print>destination:name (pick your plotter instead of say your inkjet)>printer paper does not match your document, Adjust printer automatically? No >properties, paper source roll paper, paper size , free size, plot area 3000 mil by 600 mil (for 24 in material, 750 for 30 in) click landscape, OK > Layout menu in Print, reposition images to: bottom left corner> now hit PRINT at the bottom. You will have to make adjustments for whatever you are using, play with it a little, its not difficult, just a matter of getting used to.
I never used 11 I did use 12 but now in X3 but its all generally the same. Double cutting happens if you have 2 objects, one on top of the other, the plotter will recognise it as 2 objects and then cuts accordingly. If you have problems call me 519-364-1503 I will do what I can to help. Deri

I do most of my design work in Corel and cutting in Flexi, after exporting as an .ai file. I select the object to be cut and in the stroke/fill dialog box in Flexi, set the line width to zero, which helps prevent the problem Ian mentioned. Sometimes, the objects come in with a line width of somethinng like .03", which Flexi interprets as additional objects to cut.
Also, if you have to bring it back into Corel from Flexi to do additional editing and export from Flexi as an .ai file, you must turn off "Preview" in Corel before you import. Otherwise, Corel will instantly shut down.

Only if your plotter has a printer port. serial ports will not apply in this case.

I had a GRC-132s plotter from around '99 that died a while back.. it was a 54" but would plot using Roland drivers, which you can find on the Roland website.
BTW, those are the GCC cutters (Vinyl Express)... not Graphtecs...
