There's this one old man cologne, I've smelled it on quite a few older gentlemen, it is just nauseatingly overwhelming. It's not Brut or English Leather, either.

90W gear oil..had a'59 corvette and had the occasion to open up the 4 speed tranny about 5 times. Makes me gag just to think about it. Wish I still had that car though...it would be worth some serious bucks today. That would be an interesting topic about cars you once had and kick yourself for letting them go.

1) That opossum that crawled under my house and died a few years ago.
2) The smell of that powder that is inside automobile air bags. I survived the accident fine, but that stuff made me sick.

The smell of a pig farm on a really hot, humid summer day, say about 110 in the shade, and there is no shade and the humidity level is right at thick fog. Ah yes, nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina on a summer day! Don

Vinyl-Off (don't know what that stuff smells like but its not good)
Burnt plastic or rubber
But the top of the pile is 5 month old homemade chicken noodle soup. Can't get into too many details... just trust me the Grant towers elevators at Northern Illinois University will never smell right again.

The nastiest smell ever was the pack of chicken thighs in it's heavyweight commercial package that somehow got abandoned beside our shop. They rotted in the bag beside the building but the bag held all that goodness in.
When we finally saw the bag it was a giant, brownish green ball from expanding. Knowing what we were going to be in for if that bag busted we tried to carefully roll it into a box using a couple of boards.
It didn't work. Everything for two blocks smelled for two weeks.

this one is gross........so if all you meat eaters got weak stomach DONT READ. back on the farm when we butchered.....we would load the innerds of the cow we buthered on to a small wagon take it out to the back 40, and DUMP IT. give it a week or 2 out there and the stomach blowes up like a big balloon....we would then go out there and throw big rocks at it....and it would explode.....we always checked the wind before we did this, but even with the wind taken it away.....it would smell....really bad!!!!!!!

Eeeewwww Joe! YUCK! I can't stand the smell of burnt popcorn (especially in the microwave), skunk oil is especially nasty, methane gas stinks, and rotting flesh is definitely NASTY!

A semi hauling chicken guts, beaks and claws flipped over on Hwy 65-- the sound of the tires crunching all that stuff was bad enough, but it ended up all over the bottom of the car. Incredible stink for several months!
A pan of cottage cheese type lasagna left on the kitchen counter for over 2 weeks is also on my list.
poppin' the skim off of a bucket of house paint that has been sittin' for awhile.

One of my dad's cows tried to have a calf when dad was sick. Before we knew anything about it, the calf had died inside the mother. So my brother-in-law, my wife and myself got this cow into a pen and proceeded to pull the calf. We took ahold of the front legs and pulled till we were exhausted, but the calf wouldn't budge. So we hooked up a winch and started pulling. Turns out the calf's head had been turned back and this is what prevented it's birth. But when we got the dead calf out, the stench was so incredibly powerful, that we were heaving uncontrollably. That was the most horrible smell I've ever experienced.

Crawfish shells sitting in those big black plastic bags, roasting in the heat waiting for the garbagemen to pick them up. Another top nasty smell is the smell of bourbon street...all that old beer and water. EWWWWWWWW

Worst smell in my book is Durian fruit (an Asian delicacy and supposed to be very good if you can get past the smell).
