Yeah, call me on 0412 721 061 Mark

There's a local blacksmith that specialises in such work. Not cheap, but he's a master craftsman and wins awards.

Used him a couple of times ... real nice guy.

A local business called Weis Iron used to make that kind of work by the score- but they shut down about 10 years ago. Steve Weis was a really nice bloke- he even won a Churchill Fellowship to study ornamental blacksmithing in Europe, and he's don tons (literally) of stuff in Toowoomba as street barriers, sign frames, etc.

Mark, that specific design is very straightforward- if you own a welder & an angle grinder, or a multitool belt sander, you'd get most of the way there yourself. (a forge would help, but an oxy will be OK, or find a local farrier. You could make a spiral jig, yourself, and go from there.

Actually, Steve Casey is a member of the Australian Farrier's and Blacksmith's Association, and he's honestly a master at the both aspects- he's a pommie, but he came out here maybe five years ago. He shoes the Cooper's Brewery clydesdales at Oakbank, just north of where you are. (Mike Keogh is the horses' owner at Oakbank). I'd give Steve a call- he's about our age and a very nice bloke. You'll need to do a search amongst your local phone books, or an internet white pages search, or call Mike Keogh.
