Ever need help with rivets? I got just the person to help..he has expierence now. Seriously, when I lettered two trailers in Reynolds, GA this week, Jamie was a very good helper. Meet Jamie Whitley, one of our newest letterheads.
Here's the completed trailer. The GRESCO Scotchprint is 4' x 12' and we cut the diamonds and lettering after the install. Judy

Nice Job Judy..as usual..you do good work
What do you use for heat?
Posted by Judy Pate (Member # 237) on :
We didn't need any heat....although it was 70+ degrees. This 3M Scotchprint layed down around the rivets easily. Judy

Thanks Chris! I got these Scotchprints from Gregory. Had to have the PMS colors matched. I did 4 trailers with Scotchprints from Gregory about 5 years ago and they still look great! Judy

Chris It is not at all cost effective to do a job like this in separate colors at any time.
Fleet work is all about climbing up and down scaffolds, long hours with a squeegee, rivets galore and most importantly...getting the van ready for the road..right now

Nice job Judy. I heve yet to use it on rivets, but I learned that 3M makes a "Magic Pad" that is designed to speed up rivet dressing...

Thanks Michael, I was asking as I have a Summa DC3 Thermal Printer. I know the labor of multi color cut vinyl compared to Digital Printed images.
Judy, It looks great. I was wondering is the Scotchprints are Solvent Inkjet printed or thermal. Rivits are always ruff no matter if it is laminated or not. i got a traing video that helped me alot with the rivit and seams. the rivet brush and a heat gun help set the vinyl with out it releasing back over time. a butane torch helps whaen there is no electricity!

Yep, that Jamie is a good kid. He's coming over today with his newly designed logo and we're gonna cut him some. Rivets? I just grind 'em off, LOL.

In an early issue of SignCraft, the question came up on how to letter a corrugated trailer.
If I recall correctly, it inspired a Bob Parsons cartoon containing the solution: "Beat 'em down flat with a hammer. It's still a drag to letter, but you feel so much better."
Perhaps there is a similar technique out there for rivets.

I would have felt more comfortable lettering the whole thing instead of helping with the vinyl being it was my first shot at it. I was scared I was gonna ruin her prints. I felt like beating all the rivets down with a hammer myself. I'm just glad Judy gave me the opportunity to learn. And to top it all off she even helped me improve my hand lettering.
