The fourth annual Memorial Conclave was this past weekend, and I shot a few photos: click here.

It was a great meet, and the California weather was sooo nice.

My God That is Truly Inspiring. Really humbles a person who is still just a beginner..

Makes me real glad I am going to Kent Smiths Class in March.

So beautiful! I would love to do that too, but backed off from the glass gilding, since it seem so complicated.
Thanks for the photos; outstanding work; all the painstaking effort all of you put into it. I had some questions about the 3 dimensional letters. Were they convex with different types of gold, or were they carved into the glass? They're striking too.

Deb, The carved letters in the backgrounds of some pieces like the "Boise" for instance are carved into MDF. The The same artwork is used from the file & just the lettering & border of the glass size is sent ot the router, the letters are v-carved with a 120 degree bit. The letters portion is then primed & painted or gilded then placed behind the glass when everything else is finished, a slight air gap is advisable, we use thin sandblast mask around the perimeter of the MDF to achieve this. This treatment gives a great feeling of depth. Hope this answers your question.

By the way Noel Weber & myself will be holding a Gold Leaf workshop sometime in May for anyone interestd, no set dates yet...........
