Here is a little test to keep you busy today!
Go to this link:

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap061225.html

Its a picture of the astronauts building the space station.

Now the fun part....what land mass is in the background?

Use Google Earth to see if your artistic eye can spot and name the spot on earth.

Winner gets absolutely nothing! [Smile]

I'm guessing the Straights of Gibraltor.

Oh that is too easy when you live in New Zealand!! That is the coast of the South Island, linking up to Cook Strait and over to the bottom of the North Island. It starts at Kaikoura, follows up to Blenheim then a short ferry ride from Picton to Wellington.

"Straights of Gibraltor"? HELLOOOOOOOO!??????

Wow, I never won anything before!!!

Jack, I'm not seeing it as Spain and North Africa, but I'm checking.

This link may be a valuable:

Congrats Anne,

Too bad there is no money for prize winners! [Smile]

So where is YOUR house in that picture.

Corodinates for everyone else:

41*31'32.61" S 174*35'47.37" E
The above coodinates will give you a good birds eye view from Google Earth's photos.

The above link does show orbital paths going right over New Zealand! [Smile]

Thanks for playing...I really thought it would take longer! [Applause]

Anne's got it.

Edited to add: Dave was already posting Anne as the winner when I added my comment.

She's still got it.

That's Wellington, the Capital City of New Zealand on the bottom end of the North Island behind the mast sticking up from the craft.

Anne is outa picture further down the South Island East Coast in Christchurch.

Si ... It's TOO GREEN to be Australia [Smile]

Anne has really put New Zealand on the map and I'm sure that now Steve & Barb have been here we will be even better know. I have many memories of my travels overseas of how many people have such little knowledge of NZ.

My house can almost be seen! The sticky out bit on bottom left corner is banks peninsula, we are in Kaiapoi which is just a wee bit up and inland! You can find it on Google Earth if you type Christchurch New Zealand, that's the closest city. The mountain ranges that are visible are where parts of The Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed. Most times when I've been overseas people have assumed my accent is Australian. Quite amusing really as I was born in England!
