I was bragging on my new Handover sword stipers the other day. I really got to put them to the test today.
I had some things to take care of around the house this morning and got to the truck dealer at quarter to twelve. Denise is a little under the weather so I was working solo today. Actually I had company as I brought our puppy along to give Denise a little break. Anyways, I get with the sales manager and spend all of three minutes riding on a golf cart..."Do that red one, pick one of those maroon ones and do it, do that purple Volvo and do that white one, help me out on that one, I need to sell it!" No commitees, no conferences, no sketches...just do it!
The weather is nice, low 60's ( you guys can have your snow [Smile] ) and I'm able to do them right where they sit. In the time it takes to get somebody to move and switch four trucks in and out of the shop, I could stripe another one.
I did each truck in a different style. The Handovers were flying, they really carry a nice load of paint.
I did some mini graphics on one of the trucks with a little striping, the other three got traditional striping jobs.
I wrapped up at quarter after four. These jobs go for $400 each. Along with some Rapid Prep and a couple of rags, I used maybe a third of a roll of Finesse Edge tape, possibly two onces of various HOK striping urethane colors and maybe a half pint of laquer thinner. $10-$15 max in materials.....for all four trucks!
Oh, and I even walked the dog two or three times in there somewhere.
No, we don't do this everyday, nor every week but these kinds of days do happen with enough regularity to keep me striping even when it gets slow.
I hear so many people on the BB complaining about customers. We don't have a lot of customers but the ones we do have are great.
I've always followed the work smarter not harder theory.....it works.....and my attitude has usually been pretty crappy [Smile]

Nice..Im having a hard time to get our local dealers to stripe their cars. They mostly want vinyl stripes done.
